The Transit and Rail Practice is seeking an Engineer-in-Training in Denver, CO or College Station, TX.
The role of the Engineer-in-Training is to provide engineering, design, and observation activities related to rail transit, freight rail, and bus-rapid transit projects under the direction of a licensed civil engineer. These activities will occur both in the office and on project sites. Because we serve transit agency and freight railroad clients on projects across the United States, some travel may berequired.
What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:- Design of track, busways, and related transit and railroad facilities.
- Design of grading, drainage, utilities,roadwaysand at-grade crossings, including supporting related permitting.
- Production of drawings, layouts, maps, corridor and 3D modeling, and graphic representations of engineering designs using either AutoCAD Civil 3D or BentleyOpenRoadsorOpenRail
- Preparation of design details, schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Coordination with other project disciplines including structural, architectural, geotechnical, surveying, and other aspects of a project.
- Preparation of quantity and cost estimates.
- Limited field observation on project sites before, during, and after construction.
- Site assessments in support of facility management and maintenance programs.
What You BringRequired Qualifications:- Interest in transit and rail projects
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
- 0-3years of freight rail design experience
- Licensed Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
- Ability to travel on a limited basis, up to 25% of the time at intervals of up to a week
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Comfortable working on fast-paced projects
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits
- Proficiencywith Microsoft Office software and communication tools
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience designing elements of transit trackways, busways, freight tracks, or public roadways
- Experience designing elements of bus, commuter rail, and/or transit facilities
- Experience with freight railroad or transit agency design standards
- Membership in AREMA, APTA, MPACT, APWA, or ASCE
- Membership in an AREMA APWA, APTA, or ASCE student chapter
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D orBentleyOpenRoadsorOpenRaildesign software

The posted salary range represents the typical range for this position and is provided in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
