Compensation Range

$130,000-$160,000. This position is exempt under the FLSA. Final pay will be determined based on internal salary ranges, jobโ€‘related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Engineering Roadway Technical Lead
    • Collaborate with all engineering disciplines.
    • Have authority over design decisions within the focus discipline.
    • Assume the role of Engineer of Record when necessary.
  • Technical Guidance & Mentorship
    • Train and provide technical guidance to Design Engineers.
    • Mentor, orient, and develop team members.
    • Provide input for performance appraisals and career development.
  • Quality & Deliverables
    • Ensure internal and external quality and technical correctness of client deliverables.
    • Conduct quality reviews, ITR, DC, IDR, and independent discipline reviews.
    • Verify design computations and validate work performed by subconsultants.
  • Project Planning & Scheduling
    • Review contract documents, plans, sketches, and records.
    • Collaborate with the Basis Project Manager on scheduling and work distribution.
    • Accomplish tasks within budget and schedule constraints set by the Project Manager.
    • Proactively identify challenges and potential solutions.
  • Team Coordination & Leadership
    • Coordinate design development and guide Design Engineers.
    • Delegate tasks and oversee designer work to meet quality standards.
    • Provide technical leadership to stakeholders and respond to technical questions.
  • Documentation & Review
    • Compile, organize, and synthesize documents, records, and data for client deliverables.
    • Evaluate Design Engineer work and assist with corrective actions.
    • Ensure information is properly documented and stored.
  • Final Deliverables & Client Interaction
    • Review final deliverables with the Project Manager.
    • Make changes based on client feedback.
    • Finalize packages for presentation and client submission.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    • Prepare and communicate project status reports.
    • Participate in coordination meetings and submittal reviews.
    • Serve as a client and subโ€‘consultant contact as requested.
    • Develop communication, present findings, and provide technical judgment.
  • Technical Consultation & Design Analysis
    • Identify and address constructability issues.
    • Answer engineering design questions throughout construction.
  • Advancing Design Capabilities
    • Identify and provide strategic direction on emerging technology and valueโ€‘added solutions.
    • Recommend methods and tools to improve internal design workflows.
    • Maintain inโ€‘depth and current knowledge of the engineering design focus.
  • Proposal Development Assistance
    • Lead portions of proposals and interviews during procurement.
    • Prepare conceptual designs, exhibits, reports, estimates, and technical documents.
    • Identify value engineering and cost savings opportunities.
    • Assist with scope of work, cost strategies, and schedule.
    • Collaborate with subconsultants and prime consultants for proposal quality.
  • Promoting Company Values

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant transportation design experience with increasing responsibility.
  • B.S. Civil Engineering degree.
  • P.E. licensure required; Must obtain a Colorado PE license within two months of hire.
Travel
  • Occasional travel to job sites, client offices, and other meeting places.
  • Must maintain a valid driverโ€™s license, appropriate auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
