It is an exciting time to join ANS. We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line - Project Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in a team-oriented environment. Under the direction of experienced engineers and in collaboration with a team, you will gain exposure to the Renewables industry in Solar and Battery Energy Storage projects and Utility Interconnections.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: The successful candidate will direct transmission line design projects providing leadership, technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and ensure the successful execution of projects. This leader will drive the delivery of transmission line projects ensuring they meet quality standards and client specific requirements.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, across multiple departments (and geographies) to ensure project execution to support company goals and business objectives. Work closely with other departments driving excellence in the overall execution and client experience at ANS.

  • Innovation: This role demands a forward-thinking mindset, staying open to new ideas, technologies, and ways of working. It requires a willingness to challenge the status quo, explore innovative solutions, and continuously seek improvements to drive progress and efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to excute work using technical applications such as PLS-CADD modeling and/or calculations. This includes: structure loading, structure staking, assembly drawings, foundations, support for material procurement, construction specifications, methods, support and cost estimation.

  • Perform engineering and design tasks as needed.

  • Lead project teams to execute transmission line design projects.

  • Broad knowledge of transmission line design principles, industry standards, and codes with a passion for transmission line engineering design.

  • Ability to develop, follow, interpret and apply internal, client, and industry procedures and standards to complex design situations and provide guidance to staff in implementation.

  • Ability to develop, review and evaluate design alternatives based on experience, standards, and codes to solve constructability and design challenges and provide direction to staff.

  • Ability to lead client interactions either from an office or field environment to answer technical and business questions, drive solutions, and mitigate negative impacts in stressful situations.

  • Excellent communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and an ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders (technical and non-technical alike).

Requirements:
  • BS in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent Engineering BS degree. Preference to Power specific programs.

  • Professional Engineer License

  • 5+ years of experience in overhead transmission line design and engineering. Including:

  • Line and Structure spotting

  • Route Selection

  • Structure design and analysis

  • Experience leading multidisplinary teams to complete transmission line projects.

  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD design software and in the NESC

  • Ability to Travel occasionally and hold a Passport

  • Not Required but Bonus Points for: Being fluent in Spanish
