Engineering Services Assistant

Brookfield, WI

The present company was formed in 1959 when the Magnethermic Corporation acquired the assets of Ajax Electrothermic Corp. combining their expertise and capabilities.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Services Assistant plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations through accurate data management, job setup, and production documentation within the ERP system. This position ensures that work orders, routings, and materials are properly configured to enable efficient production flow and minimize delays. The role requires strong attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Duties:

- Perform Product Structure maintenance; Cad-Talk, Alternate Parts, Make Vs Buy, Custom Material Requirements, Status updates, revision controls.

- Labor Routing setup and maintenance for a Product Structure- parent & sub-assembly or specific Shop Order per defined documentation

- Participate in Manufacturing Labor Class & Work Center Capacity Planning evaluations.

- Maintain documentation of defined Capacity Planning Configurations.

- Inventory Control functions: ability to update & communicate site part type & part planning method based on documented scheduling method for respective job. Solid understanding of each part planning methods to offer scheduling options based on a job or respective parts history.

- Perform MRP and/or PMRP and evaluate inventory part availability planning based on respective requisitions created. Ability to perform next steps on requisition processing for shop order creations.

- Understand the definitions of standard inventory vs non-standard inventory and impacts on Inventory Part Availability Planning

- Daily audits & updates in Shop Order Operations- Dates & Sequence for MFG Labor Classes & Work Centers. Upon completion of MRP or PMRP ability to run Shop Order Operations and confirm alignment of Shop Order Routings to the Production Schedule. This maintenance will sequence Shop Floor Workbench for Supervisors and provide communication to the Processing Team for Shop Order Paperwork to print for the plant floor distribution.

- Daily audits of Shop Order Operations for remaining Labor Run Factors and Machine Run Factors – Confirm they are aligned and within the Routings specific planned hours.

- Daily audits of Shop Order Materials for inventory not issued, inventory shortages, and/or scrap.

- Facilitate daily communications to Plant Manager & Supervision for variances or exceptions.

- Perform Master Scheduling “Visualizer” updates to Shop Orders based on forecasting, schedule changes/exceptions and/or capacity constraints

- Back up to Processing, Stock Base and Aftermarket in respect to Shop Order creation.

- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and procedures

What you need to be successful:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

- Working knowledge of ERP systems

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

- High level of organization and attention to detail

- Solid problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience reading mechanical and/or electrical drawings

- Familiarity with PDM or vault systems
