Job description

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer I who wants to expand their skillset by developing foundational civil engineering skills, learning from experienced mentors, and contributing to project design and delivery efforts. The Project Engineer I will prepare engineering calculations, design elements, and basic drafting under supervision. This role will support project tasks while building professional expertise and confidence.

Duties and Responsibilities: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Acquire knowledge base and skills through mentoring and self-directed learning.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, design elements, basic drafting and technical analyses under supervision.
  • Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, reports, and other project documentation.
  • Use basic CAD drafting skills (Civil 3D preferred) and office software proficiently.
  • Apply established design methods, applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Support the team in delivering estimation of time to complete tasks on schedule and proactively communicate if delays occur.
  • Perform work in accordance with company standards, safety policies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Seek guidance and mentoring from senior engineers and apply feedback to improve performance.
  • Perform additional duties as directed to meet project and company goals.
  • Maintain professionalism, safety, and compliance with company standards.
  • Determine when and where to obtain direction on modified techniques and new approaches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Basic CAD drafting experience: (Civil 3D preferred).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification (preferred).
