They handle project scheduling, resource allocation, communication between departments, and monitor the progress of engineering tasks to meet deadlines and quality standards. Their role is crucial in bridging the gap between technical staff, management, and clients, ensuring that projects run smoothly and efficiently. Engineer Coordinators often possess strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an engineer coordinator?

Job description

The Role

The Project Engineer works directly under our Project Managers, handling the day-to-day project administration, documentation, and coordination that keeps design-build projects moving — from preconstruction through installation and closeout. You'll be involved in every phase: demo, pre-construction, mobilization, fabrication, and finish installation.

Responsibilities

  • Process and track RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings from creation through approval
  • Maintain project documentation, drawing logs, and current construction sets in Procore
  • Assist with subcontractor coordination: scopes, bid leveling, POs, and change orders
  • Track material procurement and long-lead items; coordinate deliveries with site superintendents
  • Support project scheduling: update look-aheads, track milestones, flag slippage early
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes; document action items and follow up on them
  • Assist with budget tracking, cost coding, and invoice review
  • Support permitting, inspections, and closeout documentation (O&Ms, warranties, punch lists)
  • Visit job sites as needed to verify field conditions, progress, and quality
  • Act as a point of contact for field teams and subcontractors when needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years in construction project engineering, project coordination, or similar (or degree in Construction Management / Civil Engineering / related field)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of construction project management software (Procore strongly preferred)
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam; comfortable with document control systems
  • Strong written communication — clear RFIs, submittals, and meeting minutes
  • Highly organized with sharp attention to detail; able to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Proactive communicator who follows through without being chased
  • Valid driver's license; willingness to travel to project sites periodically

Preferred

  • Experience with casino, hospitality, or tenant-improvement construction
  • Experience working on occupied/live facilities and phased renovations
  • Familiarity with millwork, custom casework, or specialty interiors
  • Scheduling software experience (MS Project or similar)
  • OSHA 10/30 certification

What We Offer

  • $36–$44/hour Depending on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Paid Time Off: One week of PTO for eligible employees who have completed one year of employment, two weeks of PTO after completion of two to four years of employment, and three weeks of PTO after completion of five or more years of employment.
  • Paid Sick Leave: Accrual in accordance with state law (1 hour for every 40 hours worked)
  • Holidays: 7 Paid holidays
  • Growth path toward Project Manager within a company that designs, builds, and installs its own work
