Position Overview:
Responsible for gathering, calculating, and compiling data for use in estimates and preparing routine estimates under general supervision.
Location: This is an onsite position located in our Clinton, IN corporate office.

MasTec Renewables group is part of the MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure business segment. MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $4 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities; building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants; solar, wind, and thermal energy plants; buildings, and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates for those divisions of the project as assigned
  • Complete assignments in agreed upon time frame
  • Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier quotations or scheduling input as required for the assignments
  • Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
  • Participate in plan review and estimate reviews for respective projects
  • Assist in compiling historical cost data for projects
  • Confirm list of subcontractors/suppliers proposing on the project
  • Collaborate with Architects/Engineers to request clarifications or additional information
  • Attend project meetings and perform site investigations as assigned
  • Become familiar with all estimating software
  • Estimating leadership responsibility for small sized projects, as follows:
    • Complete pre-construction survey and other preliminary documents
    • Perform majority of quantity surveys and pricing estimates
    • Complete general conditions
    • Prepare vendor proposal comparison and estimate summary sheets
    • Conduct plan review
    • Obtain applicable wage rates
    • Coordinate with others the completion of the proposal
  • Develop and complete project schedule

Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
    • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating, Engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Estimating Software
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
