Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is transforming the way our firm works through thoughtful selection, innovative use, and leveraging technology and data where our VHBers work. As part of the Data & Analytics (D&A) team, the Software Evaluation & Enablement Analyst will have the opportunity to partner with internal teams to build experience and knowledge across multiple systems and technical skills as they work with our Software Evaluation & Enablement Manager to shape the software evaluation program. Learning and staying on top of technologies is crucial, and thankfully, VHB has a lot of smart folks to learn from!

The initial focus will be building resources and structure around the program to empower VHBers with the ability to thoroughly and safely select technology solutions. Additionally, we envision this role taking part in the enablement of technology solutions and making sure they provide the most value to our teams. Come play a big role in shaping an evolving program that will have an impact on how we adopt technology. As the organization continues to mature its software evaluation process, under moderate supervision, this role will participate in the evaluation, selection, procurement, and implementation of new software solutions by serving as an IT partner to business teams, coordinating software evaluation efforts, providing structure consistency to the process, and contributing to making our software evaluation framework more scalable and self-service for business users. This includes developing and maintaining documentation, supporting intake and workflow coordination, and serving as a point of contact for questions related to the software evaluation process to ensure alignment with firm standards and business needs.

Additionally, this role will support translating business needs into technical requirements and solutions and support the technical health of existing applications. They exercise independent judgment in handling routine project work and technical issues and escalate more complex matters as appropriate.

This position offers remote work options from anywhere on the East Coast of the US, with work hours aligned to the EST time zone. Occasional travel, usually to our headquarters in Watertown, MA, is required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of software evaluation and selection teams to assess potential technology solutions and ensure existing systems continue to meet business needs.
  • Provides sustaining IT support to maintain the technical health, performance, and reliability of enterprise software systems and associated integrations. Initial focus on building partnerships with business teams to support upcoming software implementations with intent to develop product expertise and product management capabilities
  • Works closely with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate business needs into functional and technical system requirements and specifications.
  • Serves as an IT liaison between business teams, software vendors, and internal IT delivery and infrastructure teams.
  • Coordinates smaller software evaluation requests by partnering with business stakeholders and end users to collect requirements, clarify needs, assess use cases, and support the evaluation process from intake through selection.
  • Maintains and supports software evaluation workflows and project tracking, including keeping evaluation stories, tasks, and statuses current and communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Facilitates and coordinates cross-functional review activities associated with software evaluations, including legal, IT security, architecture, procurement, or other required review points, and provides timely follow-up and status updates to stakeholders.
  • Researches software vendors and prepares summary information on software categories, vendor capabilities, and solution options to support decision-making.
  • Creates and maintains documentation related to software evaluations and application processes, including standard operating procedures, guides, how-to materials, workflow documentation, and best practices for internal users.
  • Provides support for questions related to the software evaluation process and helps guide internal users toward established standards, procedures, and self-service resources.
  • Analyzes system behavior, identifies technical gaps or risks, and recommends system enhancements or corrective actions.
  • Supports system upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and ongoing optimization efforts.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation, including system specifications, workflows, integration touchpoints, and operational procedures.
  • Performs system testing, integration testing, and supports user acceptance testing; develops and executes test scripts as needed.
  • Assists with issue troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and coordination of resolution efforts.
  • Partners with vendors to support issue resolution, enhancement requests, and system roadmap planning.
  • Stays current with system upgrades, emerging technologies, AI technology, and industry best practices related to software support and software evaluation.
  • Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
  • Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and organizational policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 0-2+ years of experience in IT business analysis, application support, systems support, or related software/systems process coordination.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Understanding of Agile project delivery.

  • Experience supporting software platforms and system integrations.
  • Working knowledge of application architectures, integrations, and data flows.
  • Understanding of application support and sustaining IT operations

Additional Information

  • This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with significant computer use. May be exposed to and required to work with highly confidential and sensitive business or system information.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a practical assessment.

The base salary range for this position in Watertown, MA would be between $70,000 - $90,000. 

The base salary range for this position in New York would be between $75,000- $95,000.

The base salary range for this position in Maine would be between $60,000- $80,000.

Offers will be determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, and geographic location.
