Job description
Howell Township is seeking a full time qualified EMS Supervisor to provide direct supervision, leadership, and operational oversight of assigned Basic Life Support (BLS) crews within the Howell Township Police Department EMS Unit. Under the direction of the EMS Coordinator, the EMS Supervisor performs all duties within the scope of practice of a New Jersey-certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and serves as the first-line EMS supervisor during assigned shifts. The position is responsible for coordinating BLS operations, supervising personnel, maintaining operational readiness, responding to emergency calls, providing on-scene leadership, and ensuring compliance with NJOEMS regulations, county EMS requirements, and departmental policies. The EMS Supervisor will also oversee EMS equipment and ambulance readiness, assist with QA/QI and Patient Care Report (PCR) reviews, support training and onboarding, coordinate maintenance and inspections, assist with special events and public relations activities, and serve as a liaison between EMS personnel, command staff, police, fire, ALS providers, hospitals, and mutual aid agencies. The successful candidate must be available to work weekends and participate in on-call supervisory coverage as required.
Candidates must possess a current New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (NJOEMS) EMT certification in good standing, a valid New Jersey driver's license, current CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider certification, and a minimum of five (5) years of experience providing BLS services as a New Jersey-certified EMT. Candidates must demonstrate EMS leadership, supervisory, or senior field provider experience and have strong communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. Completion of ICS 200, ICS 700, ICS 800, and Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM) training is referred. Completion of ICS 330 and 400 required to completed within one year. Instructor certifications, supervisory training, and experience as a Crew Chief, Field Training Officer, or EMS Supervisor are preferred. Familiarity with electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR) systems, EMS QA/QI programs, and NJOEMS inspections is also preferred.
The successful candidate must be able to meet and maintain all applicable NJOEMS physical, medical, certification, and continuing education requirements. Other related duties may be assigned. This position is full time non-exempt position aligned the Teamsters bargaining agreement with a salary range of $54,454- $72,574.
