Herschend is seeking a steadfast and discerning Safety & Security Supervisor to help lead our newest hospitality venture, Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel, located in the heart of Downtown Nashville. The Safety & Security Supervisor at SongTeller Hotel will assist in all aspects of safety, security, and emergency preparedness for Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel, featuring 245 guest rooms, two food & beverage entertainment venues, a market, and Dolly Parton's Museum. This role is responsible for creating an environment where guests and hosts feel genuinely safe, welcomed, and cared for. From developing proactive safety strategies and leading daily security operations to preparing for high-profile activations, this leader ensures that safety is seamlessly integrated into every aspect of the guest and team member experience.
With a calm and discerning presence, the Safety & Security Supervisor understands that the most effective protection is often subtle, intentional, and service-driven. Summary of Essential Functions & Responsibilities
• Support the implementation and ongoing management of comprehensive safety and security programs designed to protect guests, hosts, and hotel assets.
• Assist in leading and managing the security team, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management to ensure consistent 24/7 coverage.
• Conduct routine risk assessments, internal audits, and safety inspections across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces; identify vulnerabilities and ensure timely corrective action.
• Oversee accurate documentation, investigation, and follow-up of all incidents, including guest complaints, employee injuries, theft, disturbances, and property damage.
• Support the administration and resolution of guest claims, ensuring compliance with brand standards, legal requirements, and insurance protocols.
• Assist in managing emergency response and crisis management procedures, including fire life safety systems, evacuation protocols, and staff training (CPR, AED, First Aid).
• Serve as the acting leader of the department in the absence of the Director of Safety & Security, including functioning as the primary liaison with law enforcement and emergency services.
• Monitor and evaluate all security systems, including CCTV, alarm systems, access control, and key management; investigate irregularities and ensure proper escalation.
• Enforce policies related to loss prevention, asset protection, and emergency communications.
• Promote a proactive safety culture by educating employees on workplace safety practices, situational awareness, and incident reporting.
• Oversee access control operations, including visitor management, contractor/vendor compliance, and delivery procedures.
• Assist in planning and executing security operations for VIP guests, special events, and high-volume periods common to an urban environment.
• Analyze incident trends and operational data to recommend improvements in staffing, patrol strategies, and risk mitigation efforts.
• Assist in conducting and documenting regular emergency drills (fire, severe weather, active threat), evaluating team readiness and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with Human Resources on workplace violence prevention, employee relations incidents, and internal investigations.
• Support corporate reporting requirements, including insurance claims, liability tracking, and brand safety audits.
• Assist in business continuity and disaster recovery planning to ensure operational resilience.
• Ensure all security operations reflect a professional, discreet, and guest-focused approach consistent with luxury hospitality standards.
• Promote the culture of safety and security in the entire work environment.

• Proficient in using computers and Microsoft software.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military service, with preferred 1 year in a hospitality or hotel environment.
  • Experience leading teams and coordinating emergency responses, safety protocols, and investigative processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement comprehensive security policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Thorough understanding of fire safety, emergency response, loss prevention, access control, and surveillance systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, ADA compliance, and local/state safety codes applicable to hospitality operations.
  • Proficiency in using security software, CCTV systems, key control programs, and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and incident-reporting skills with attention to detail and legal documentation standards.
  • Leadership skills with experience working and directing cross-functional teams and external vendors (security, law enforcement, etc.).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in emergency or high-stress situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to train staff and collaborate with all levels of hotel leadership.
  • Capable of handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Physically able to walk and stand for 5+ hours, patrol the property, respond quickly to incidents, and perform safety-related tasks.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for guests and employees.
