Job Summary

This role manages employee relations (ER) functions for Vistra by investigating ER issues and determining appropriate remedial, disciplinary, or other actions; reviewing and interpreting policies; developing and delivering ER training, supporting labor and employment litigation, and supporting employee-related programs.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Interfaces with state and federal agencies and directs employee relations activities to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Advises the Senior Leadership Team, the Leadership Team, line management, and HR peers in employee relations matters; also provides training or updates to the HR field
Supports Employee Relations issues in the field with field HR personnel and ensure that all investigators are well trained in investigative skills and adhere to the procedures for ER
Manage ER investigations process, including Code of Conduct violations and other policies, advising clients in taking appropriate corrective action, and reviewing proposed disciplinary actions and preparing related documentation
Prepare and present ER compliance metrics to senior leaders and other stakeholders
Develop and deliver employee compliance training, including Civil Treatment, ADA, FMLA, and other workplace laws
Collaborate with HR and Leadership teams to implement trainings and programs that enhance engagement, retention and workplace culture
Interpret, revise, and monitor for developments relating to HR policies and provide guidance to Human Resources team
Support severance programs, including by assisting with personnel rating and ranking process and preparing related documentation such as adverse impact analyses and OWBPA disclosures for legal review

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

Five or more years of relevant professional ER and interview experience required
Three or more years managing and HR or ER team and processes
Labor and employment law knowledge, awareness of HR trends
Excellent leadership and communication skills, both written and oral, with all levels and areas of the company
High school diploma or certificate of equivalency
Certification as SPHR or PHR preferred
Occasional travel will be required

Key Metrics

Exhibit leadership and management principles reflecting company core values to ensure overall business HR function success
Promote positive relations with employees, customers, union leaders, community leaders and regulators as needed to build favorable relationships
Build relationships with HR partners and business clients to deliver best-in-class advice regarding ER matters and emerging ER issues
Provide regular communication and training to managers and HR teams on ER issues
Ensure that HR policies, practices and procedures are understood and consistently applied
Lead in the development of ER policies and practices in support of broader strategic objectives
