Inpatient Focused Hospice & Palliative Medicine Physician
Summa Health - Akron, Ohio
Summa Health is seeking a board certified/board eligible Hospice & Palliative Medicine (HPM) physician to join our team of 10 Physicians and 10 Advanced Practice Providers. We are searching for a full-time provider with a primary interest in inpatient care, though we also welcome candidates interested in a combination of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.
Summa Health Medical Group is a subsidiary of Summa Health System, which is comprised of 2 hospitals and over 20 health centers, making it one of the largest integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems in the state. The medical group has nearly 700 unified, high performing providers aligned to create a healthier Northeastern Ohio community.
Opportunity Highlights
Normal business hours Monday through Friday
Weekend Call averages 10 weekends/year
Night Call averages 3-4 nights/month
Main Location at Akron Hospital Campus
Employed position offering competitive compensation, benefit package and incentives such as signing bonus, education loan assistance, relocation, and CME allowance
One of the first programs in Ohio with Joint Commission certification in Advanced Palliative Care
Team-based work with interdisciplinary teams including Pain and Palliative pharmacists, nurse program coordinators, social workers and spiritual care department
Teaching opportunities abound in the HPM Fellowship Program and numerous resident and medical student rotators
Partnership with community-based hospice and includes care of general inpatient hospice patients in the hospital's acute palliative care unit
Large, established, referral base within the medical group, ACO and community partners
Active involvement in medical student, resident and fellowship education
Epic System EMR
Candidate Requirements
Board Certified/Eligible in Hospice & Palliative Medicine
Fellowship trained in Hospice & Palliative Medicine
Current and unrestricted license in the State of Ohio, or willing to obtain
Compassionate, caring demeanor with patients, families, and staff
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
