Job description

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. Position Summary:
The Emergency Room Clinical Coordinator will oversee and coordinate all activities and education consistent with safe and efficient care of all patients seen in the Emergency Room. This position will have direct daily supervision over all nursing and non-nursing staff in the department and report directly to the Emergency Room Manager. They will also work closely with the Emergency Room Physicians and all other leadership in the facility to ensure excellent patient care outcomes.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):
  1. Functions as the educational and coordinating resource for the nursing staff in the ED.
  1. Takes on the initiative of onboarding new employees by providing effective mentorship and organizing new staff orientation to the ED.
  2. Searches and facilitates ED specific education and trainings to make available to staff.
  3. Directly mentors/educates staff and monitors competence on an ongoing basis.
  4. Acts as a resource to nursing staff in problem solving resolution of patient care issues.
  1. Works closely with the emergency room staff to ensure that scanning processes are followed appropriately so various supplies are stocked and up to par levels
  2. Coordinates departmental PI program, outcomes management and other hospital initiatives as directed
  3. Verify daily logs have been completed.
  4. Provides leadership and support to all Emergency Room staff in absence of director or manager.
  5. Assist and collaborate with staffing including the possibility to be moved into staffing if needed.
  6. Assess the daily census and acuity of patients and triage to clinic if the need arises
  7. Verifies that students have proper credentials and follow department standards.
  8. Assists the Emergency Room Manager and Director in identifying and implementing appropriate, innovative and cost-effective patient care practices.
  9. Reports safety concerns to the Emergency Room Manager as they arise.
  10. Attends required departmental meetings.

The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital's goals and objectives.
Position Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and current RN licensure in the state of Illinois.
  • ACLS/BLS and PALs required within 6 months of employment
  • 3-5 years of Emergency Room experience preferred
  • Previous leadership training or experience desired
  • ITLS/TNCC/TNS within 6 months of hire preferred.

Pay Rate:
Pay ranges from $27.473/hour to $43.997/hour for an RN (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
Hours: Mid Shift, 11a-1130p 36hrs per week
