Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN)

Location: Cary, NC 27519
Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 per year
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with rotating weekend on-call coverage
Position: Full-Time | In-Person

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) looking to advance your leadership career? We're seeking a compassionate, hands-on Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join a dedicated leadership team at a 92-bed skilled nursing facility with a secured memory care unit. This is an outstanding opportunity to help lead clinical operations, mentor nursing staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the nursing department.
  • Ensure compliance with all North Carolina DHHS, state, federal, and facility regulations.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nursing support staff.
  • Monitor resident care plans, clinical documentation, quality measures, and resident outcomes.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, orientation, employee development, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate resident care, including specialized memory care services.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Participate in state surveys, audits, infection prevention efforts, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model by providing hands-on support to staff as needed.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, compassion, and exceptional resident care.
  • Participate in the nursing leadership rotating weekend on-call schedule.

Qualifications

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 2 years of long-term care or skilled nursing experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of North Carolina DHHS regulations and skilled nursing operations.
  • Experience working with dementia, behavioral health, or secured memory care residents is a plus.
  • SPICE (Infection Control) certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
