Job description
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in emergency management, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence decision-making at multiple levels of an organization.
- Strong knowledge of emergency management principles, and relevant federal and state regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; Proficiency in the use of computers and the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Required Professional license or certificates:
- Completion of FEMA courses including ICS 100, 200, 363, 700, 800, and 907.
- FEMA professional Development Series must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
- Must have a current Ohio Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
- Master's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

Leads and directs the university's emergency management and preparedness program under the direction of the Associate Vice President and Chief of Police or designee. Develop, implement, and maintain the university's comprehensive emergency management plan including preparedness, response, and recovery strategies. Conduct vulnerability assessments and update emergency planning documents as necessary.
Oversees and coordinates with university departments to develop and maintain departmental business continuity plans to ensure continuity of critical university functions during disruptions. Holds primary responsibility for ensuring departments are aligned with university emergency preparedness expectations.
Directs the operational readiness of the university Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Associated emergency management resources. Serves as the key advisor to support university leadership with situation awareness and planning functions during emergency incidents, providing situational awareness, planning support, and recommendations to inform institutional decision- making.
Collaborate and leads coordination efforts with campus external emergency management agencies and public safety partners, strengthening relationships and response efforts across the university.
20% | Preparedness, Training, Planning, & Support Services
Leads and oversees emergency preparedness initiatives across the university by developing and implementing training programs, exercises, and planning activities. Design and conduct tabletop, functional, and/or full-scale exercises to evaluate and improve response capabilities.
Leads the development of after-action reports and improvements plans following exercise or significant incidents and coordinate implementation of corrective actions with university departments. Participate in internal committees and planning groups to support campus emergency preparedness initiatives and strengthen collaboration among departments involved in emergency planning and response activities.
Provides leadership and strategic direction for preparedness initiatives for faculty, staff, and students designed to improve campus awareness and readiness for emergencies. Oversees safety planning efforts for major campus events by assisting in the development of event safety plans and Incident Action Plans (IAPs) in coordination with campus partners.
Collaborates and works closely with Environmental Health & Safety, Casualty Prevention, and other university units to support campus safety initiatives, hazard mitigation efforts, and institutional preparedness planning. Assists departmental leadership with grants, compliance initiatives, special projects, and strategic safety efforts that directly support the enhancement of a safer campus environment.
Supports operational functions within the Division of Campus Safety through coordination with the Public Safety Service Center, university departments, and external public safety partners to enhance emergency communications, operational readiness, and campus safety services.
Serves in support roles related to emergency communications and public safety systems administration, including responsibilities associated with TAC/ATAC functions, LEADS compliance requirements, audits, policy adherence, training coordination, and communications-related operational support activities. May assist with onboarding, training, and operational support functions for Public Safety Service Center personnel as needed.
Assists with departmental initiatives involving major campus events, special projects, grants, compliance-related efforts, and other operational priorities that support the mission of the Division of Campus Safety and the overall safety of the university community.
Participates in university committees, planning groups, and collaborative initiatives as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned in support of the Division of Campus Safety.
