Summary:
The Nurse Intern will function as an integral part of the patient care team. Provides direct patient care and support services to the nursing unit under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse and does not perform any task that requires a nursing license. Able to care for patients with varying levels of illness under the direction of an RN. Routine responsibilities include providing bedside care to patient, performing routine nursing procedures, transporting patients, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment, routine housekeeping duties as needed, and documentation of care and procedures performed. The Nurse Intern will perform blood sugar assessment, unlicensed respiratory therapy tasks, and/or EKGs as required in role with competency documentation. The Nurse Intern must be able to organize multiple priorities and make independent decisions. Remaining in the role is contingent on continuous enrollment in an RN degree program or an LPN program with progression toward completion of the nursing program.
