Job description

EMCOR Government Services is seeking a  Tour Mechanic in McLean, VA. The Tour Mechanic perform tours of the facility performing visual inspections of mechanical and electrical spaces monitoring equipment and taking pressure/temperature system readings to ensure equipment is operating properly. This position assist the HVAC Mechanics in the operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and performance of routine reoccurring preventive maintenance services to base building HVAC and other related mechanical and electrical equipment (within their skill set restrictions).

The work schedule is 10pm - 6am Tuesday - Saturday. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned by EGS Management so long as they do not conflict with the CBA.

• This position will including working with the HVAC staff on typical building systems to include, but limited too; rooftop equipment, cooling towers, DX split systems, specialized comfort cooling and task cooling equipment (under supervision), centrifugal, screw and reciprocating chillers and compressors, kitchen equipment, fans, air handling units and other air moving equipment, computer room systems, steam, hot, chilled, condensate and condenser water distribution systems.
• Performs routine reoccurring preventive maintenance services and tasks as dictated by the CMMS and other special requests or requirements to building mechanical equipment.
• Monitors the site operations through the BMCS control system. Performs minor tests, calibration and operation as required (may be under supervision of a HVAC Mechanic).
• Assists in the troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment and other related systems.
• Institute the corrective action and/or inform his supervisor on any deficiencies found in the course of performing the job.
• Performs watch tours and inspections as may be required.
• Must have a working knowledge of other trades such as plumbing and electrical.
• Monitor subcontractors in their task and provide reports when needed.
• Supervises the work of support staff (GMW, Tour Mechanic, Helper) as may be required.
• Shift schedule is 10pm to 6am Tuesday thru Sunday.


• Most process a current Universal CFC License
• Three (3) or more years experience in performing maintenance and repair on commercial-residential building equipment and support systems. Must have documented experience in the operation and maintenance of reciprocating and screw compressors.
• Skill and technical ability to interpret equipment operation, troubleshooting techniques, evaluate system performance and diagnose and perform adjustments and repairs as needed and with some supervision.
• Must have 2 years experience working with support trades (sheet metal, fire alarm, electrical, controls, etc) in the operation and support of HVAC systems.
• Must be proficient in basic plumbing skills as the relate to HVAC systems
• Must be proficient in basic electrical skills as they relate to HVAC operations

• Demonstrate the ability to read and understand Blueprints, schematics and specifications.

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Must be willing to work shift work and overtime.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance


Must be able to move/lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders, work at heights and be proficient in the use of common hand and power tools.
