Job description

When military bases, national security agencies, federal buildings, healthcare facilities, and leading commercial clients in Washington D.C and across the nation need superior facility support services, we answer the call. EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for an HVAC Mechanic in Herndon, Virginia.  The HVAC Mechanic will troubleshoot and maintain HVAC equipment in two buildings. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.  The scheduled hours are: M-F 7am - 3pm.

โ€ข Assist with the maintenance of site equipment and building structure.

โ€ข Assist General Maintenance Workers with the maintenance and repairs of the building air systems on the site.

โ€ข Assist with the troubleshooting of all equipment on site.

โ€ข Perform preventive maintenance of all equipment on site.

โ€ข Institute the corrective action and/or inform his supervisor on any deficiencies found while performing the job. 

โ€ข Supervise HVAC Tour Mechanics, and General Maintenance Workers as directed by his supervisor.

โ€ข Monitor Subcontractors in their task and provide reports when needed.

โ€ข Perform other task as directed by his supervisor.


โ€ข CFC Universal

โ€ข Journeyman HVAC License, or Md. Class 1 Engineers, or DC 3rd, or equivalent.

โ€ข Five (5) or more yearsโ€™ experience in maintenance and repairs on Commercial-Industrial building equipment to       include but not limited to:

   Chillers =/+500 tons   Pumps    Control Systems Air Handlers    Cooling Towers  Heat Exchangers

   VAVโ€™s  VFDโ€™s   In Row Coolers Refrigerant systems

โ€ข Demonstrate the ability to read and understand Blueprints, schematics and specifications. 

โ€ข Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Chiller Plant Operations and basic knowledge of a refrigerant cycle.

โ€ข Be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of Building Air Systems.

โ€ข Must be able to obtain and maintain an ISSA TS/SCI w/Poly.


  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50lbs and push up to 100lbs)
  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
  • Push, pull, move or lift any related equipment, supplies and parts required to complete the job
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching as required to complete the job
