To address this, developers typically use inline styles, tables for layout, and test across multiple platforms and devices using tools like Litmus or Email on Acid. Staying up to date with client-specific quirks and best practices is essential, as is collaborating closely with designers and marketers to align on feasible design elements. These skills are essential for creating engaging, functional, and accessible email campaigns that drive business results and user engagement.

What Is the Job of an Email Developer?

An email developer designs and builds email blasts for clients and marketing teams. In this career, your duties primarily revolve around creating templates in HTML. This involves having an eye for visual design as well as the technical capability for coding. When coding the email, you have to account for a variety of different browsers, text options, and email clients, which makes it a very different task than coding a web page. Furthermore, you need to be aware of the limits of the email service provider your organization is using, and you must stay up-to-date with any new regulations regarding spam and industry standards regarding HTML.

  • Comfort managing recurring monthly deliverables across several businesses
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly
  • Experience in HVAC or home services marketing is strongly preferred

What Success looks like:

  • Each brand receives emails that feel custom, on-brand, and intentional
  • Campaigns are delivered consistently each month without heavy oversight
  • Performance improves over time through testing and optimization
  • Internal teams trust you to own email execution end-to-end
