Job description

Senior Electronics Engineer

Wavetronix seeks a highly-motivated full-time experienced electrical engineer with working knowledge in circuit board design, theory, and operation. Hardware developers are vital members of our team and work on major development projects.

The electrical engineer will design, implement and test printed circuit boards. The applicant should be familiar with general software and embedded design. Wavetronix development processes happen inside an agile development team employing standard tools and processes such as version control, unit testing, and work backlogs. The developer will work on a development team running a high-fidelity scrum implementation.

Technical proficiency with electronic circuits is needed. An understanding of hardware interfaces, power systems, soldering, embedded design, electromagnetic theory, power electronics, datasheets, compliance testing, schematics, board layout, debugging and trouble-shooting are also desired.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that our products are developed to high quality standards. He or she will help the company meet development schedules. The person chosen for the position will be expected to contribute in a team environment where they will have a positive influence.

The successful candidate will have the ability and desire to complete the following goals:

Within 90 Days:
  • Develop an understanding of current Wavetronix products with a focus on PCB architectures.
  • Demonstrate desired technical proficiencies by working closely with existing team members on assigned work.
  • Show an understanding of standard tools and processes used by the team.
Year 1:
  • Become a major team contributor to the development of hardware and system design.
  • Show expertise in one or more areas of project development.
  • Demonstrate skill at working with team members and collaborating with other teams that are working on related projects.
Beyond Year 1:
  • Develop a deep understanding of Wavetronix hardware systems and vision for future development.
  • Demonstrate an understand of existing product's hardware sufficient to debug, test, maintain, and update it.
  • Envision and suggest new or different ways to improve system performance, maintainability, quality and ease of use.
Desired Experience and Competencies
  • 5+ years experience working in hardware design.
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering with courses in circuit analysis, digital systems, electromagnetics, and embedded firmware.
  • Familiarity with circuit boards, including components, schematics, and layout.
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for projects and tasks.
  • High personal motivation, a strong work ethic, and high standards for personal and team results.
  • Able to work with a team, share work, coordinate efforts and communicate effectively.
  • Experience with source control, unit and system testing, and product lifecycles.
  • Able to read and interpret hardware datasheets.
  • Demonstrated experience with C in embedded environments.
  • Knowledge of writing code for DSPs, ARM processor, FPGAs etc.
