What you’ll do
As the Transportation Engineering Lead, you will be a pivotal figure within our organization by contributing to the strategic leadership of the company.  Your primary responsibility will be to continuously build and improve the transportation engineering opportunities. You will be tasked with shaping and executing the strategic initiatives necessary for driving growth and stability within the transportation team. This role demands a visionary leader with extensive experience in transportation engineering, client engagement, and strategic planning.
  • Develop transportation strategy by collaborating with the executive team to outline and execute the firm's transportation plan, ensuring alignment with organizational values and mission.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive strategies for advancing transportation projects and services.
  • Accountable for client engagement and relationship building by establishing and fostering strong relationships with local agencies; both existing clients and potential target clients, to understand their transportation project needs and secure new opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison between our clients, our organization, and regulatory bodies like the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to advance simple and complex transportation projects.
  • Responsible for project leadership and management by overseeing the execution of transportation projects, ensuring that they meet client expectations, industry standards, and internal quality benchmarks.
  • Play a key role in recruiting, mentoring, and developing the transportation design team.
  • Perform financial oversight by monitoring project budgets, resources, and financial performance to ensure the successful and profitable completion of transportation projects.
  • Contribute to financial planning for the transportation department and assess project feasibility.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for transportation projects, facilitating clear and effective communication between clients, project teams, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop new clients and maintain existing clients by establishing a personal working relationship with key decision makers and influencers based on Fehr Graham core values.
  • Develop and maintain a high-level understanding of transportation engineering technology trends and advancements.
  • Attend meetings, community, and industry events. 
  • Follow/research industry trends and communicate back to the team/knowledge sharing
  • Maintains client confidentiality of all project work.
