Job Description ELECTRICAL ENGINEER Midstream Oil & Gas Project Delivery ENGAGEMENT Full-time position LOCATION Houston, Texas EXPERIENCE Senior | 10-15 years INDUSTRY Midstream Oil & Gas ENVIRONMENT EPC / Consulting ROLE TYPE Electrical Engineering Position Overview We are seeking a senior-level Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of midstream oil and gas projects in an engineering, procurement, and construction environment. This role will contribute to pipelines, compressor stations, terminals, gas-processing facilities, and related industrial infrastructure from conceptual design through construction and commissioning. The ideal candidate can independently develop electrical deliverables, specify equipment, coordinate across disciplines, and provide sound technical direction throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Own Develop low- and medium-voltage electrical designs for pipeline facilities, compressor stations, terminals, processing plants, and related industrial assets. Prepare and review one-line diagrams, load lists and studies, equipment layouts, grounding plans, cable schedules, and electrical area-classification deliverables. Create technical specifications and data sheets for transformers, switchgear, motor-control centers, variable-frequency drives, generators, UPS systems, and associated equipment.

Perform or review load-flow, short-circuit, protective-device coordination, arc-flash, and motor-starting studies using recognized power-system analysis methods. Apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE, client, and industry requirements, including hazardous-area classification and selection of appropriately rated equipment. Prepare material requisitions, evaluate vendor proposals, and review supplier drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.

Coordinate electrical scope and interfaces with instrumentation, controls, mechanical, civil, structural, piping, and process engineering teams. Develop discipline estimates, schedules, execution plans, and work-hour forecasts while managing technical assignments to project milestones. Review designs for technical accuracy, constructability, operability, maintainability, and compliance with project requirements.

Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup, including responses to contractor questions and evaluation of field changes. Mentor junior engineers and designers, provide quality oversight, and communicate effectively with clients, project managers, vendors, and internal teams. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Approximately 10-15 years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including substantial responsibility for industrial project design and execution. Significant experience with midstream oil and gas, pipelines, compressor stations, terminals, gas-processing facilities, or closely related industrial projects. Demonstrated success working within an EPC or engineering-consulting environment on multidisciplinary projects.

Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution, electrical equipment specifications, grounding systems, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and one-line diagrams. Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, applicable IEEE standards, hazardous-area classification, and industrial electrical design practices. Ability to independently manage technical assignments, coordinate electrical work across disciplines, and deliver accurate work within project schedules.

Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills, with the ability to work in the Houston area. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain licensure in Texas. Experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or comparable power-system analysis software.

Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar engineering-design platforms. Experience supporting brownfield modifications, operating facilities, field construction, commissioning, or startup activities. Experience leading the electrical discipline on multidiscipline EPC projects and directing the work of engineers and designers.

Success in This Role Electrical deliverables are technically accurate, coordinated, and issued in alignment with project schedules and quality expectations. Equipment specifications and power-system studies support safe, reliable, and constructible facility designs. Electrical interfaces and design risks are identified early and resolved effectively across engineering disciplines.

Procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup teams receive timely, practical technical support. Clients and project leaders view the electrical discipline as responsive, accountable, and capable of independent execution. Working Relationship This senior individual-contributor role works closely with project management, engineering disciplines, designers, procurement, construction, commissioning teams, vendors, and clients.

It is best suited for an engineer who can move comfortably between detailed technical design, multidisciplinary coordination, field support, mentoring, and client communication.
