Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Level 1
Job Description

The Electrical Engineer - Level 1 performs basic electrical power, lighting, and low-voltage system engineering tasks for electrical construction projects under the direct supervision of senior engineering staff. This role supports project delivery by preparing designs, calculations, and layouts, ensuring all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. The position offers the opportunity to grow within a rapidly expanding company while working closely with experienced engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and electrical specifications to ensure that installations and designs conform to applicable standards and customer requirements.
  • Conduct field surveys to gather data on existing electrical systems and study diagrams and related information to identify and help correct power system problems.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software, including AutoCAD and Revit, as well as related engineering tools and equipment to perform daily engineering tasks.
  • Perform detailed electrical calculations, under the direction of an upper-level engineer, to compute and establish construction standards, load requirements, and project specifications.
  • Assist in planning the layout of electrical construction projects, including power, lighting, and low-voltage systems, with guidance from senior engineers or team leaders.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical terminology, symbols, and the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) to support code-compliant designs and documentation.
  • Prepare and update engineering documentation, drawings, and reports using a PC, Microsoft Office Suite, and design software tools.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team, senior electrical designers, and production staff to support project coordination and resolve design-related issues.
  • Follow established engineering procedures, quality standards, and project workflows as directed by the Corporate Engineering Manager and assigned supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned, recognizing that additional functions and responsibilities may be introduced as needed to support business and project demands.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in using a PC and Microsoft Office Suite for engineering documentation, calculations, and communication.
  • Knowledge and practical use of AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and drafting; AutoCAD/Revit knowledge is required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical terminology and symbols, including their application in drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and its application to electrical design and construction.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and study technical drawings, diagrams, and electrical specifications.
  • Capability to conduct field surveys and analyze data to identify and help correct power system problems.
  • Ability to operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and related engineering equipment to perform assigned tasks.
  • Skill in performing detailed electrical calculations under supervision to support construction standards and specifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering – Electrical, or
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology.
  • Approximately 4 years of progressive electrical engineering–related experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 5–10% of the time as required by project needs.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, working between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, typically aligning with an 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule. Work is performed using PCs, Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, and other computer-assisted engineering and design tools. Occasional travel of approximately 5–10% may be required for field surveys and site-related activities. The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
