Electrical Engineer Job Overview: Our Cedar Rapids client, in Industrial Machining, is seeking to add a NEW Electrical Engineer to their team

Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and managing projects to completion. The Electrical Engineer brings strong self-motivation, a thirst for acquiring new skills, and adaptability to work on projects spanning weeks or months, as well as fast-paced assignments with shorter timelines. This is a Direct Hire role.

What you will be doing as a Electrical Engineer... Safely operate, design, and troubleshoot process and automation control systems, including vendor sourcing and recommendations. Develop master plans, automation strategies, and software configurations, adeptly troubleshooting complex issues

Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to establish and enforce design standards, change control, and documentation for electrical engineering tasks. Write and debug PLC code across multiple stations and devise device drivers. Program MMI devices and craft interface circuitry, ensuring seamless operation.

Determine power requirements and limitations, designing logic systems for sequence and timing control. Draft cable connection diagrams and create processes for design verification and quality testing. Demonstrate a proactive approach to project ownership, identifying and resolving performance issues with equipment.

Participate actively in brainstorming sessions, providing constructive feedback on designs and contributing to problem-solving. Thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment, collaborating closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Conduct equipment and material test studies, and perform related duties as required.

Skills you ideally bring to the table as a Electrical Engineer... Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with 3-5+ years of experience in industrial automation. Proficiency in current technology and relevant electrical codes (UL/CSA/CE)

Working knowledge of PLCs and control devices such as AB, Siemens, and B&R. Understanding of electromechanical aspects of automation systems and motivation to improve engineering procedures. Proficiency in MS Office suite and excellent technical, communication, and analytical skills.

Thorough knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards. Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment. Experience in or familiarity with machine shops, including welding, milling, and sheet metal fabrication.

Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks, is advantageous.
