Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer | Jacksonville, FL

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer in Jacksonville, FL, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects. In this role, you'll provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients-overseeing engineering analysis, design, and implementation of building electrical systems to support positive outcomes. You'll also help manage budgets, mentor and train team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner
  • Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements
  • Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction
  • Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested
  • Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
