Job Summary:
Panelmatic is seeking a dedicated and skilled Application Engineer. The Application Engineer is responsible for receiving the quote request from sales, reviewing the bid for feasibility, and then completing the proposal package with the best suited solution for the customer. The bid review includes a review of the timeline, customer specifications and drawings. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry standards. The Application Engineer collaborates with Sales, Project Managers, Engineering, Product Managers and Supply Chain to ensure on time accurate and competitive bids.
Job Duties:
  • Create an estimate using Estimating software from customer-supplied specifications and drawings
  • Researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to gain a comprehensive understanding of the scope of work.
  • Create bills of material from electrical drawings and/or wiring diagrams
  • Create a letter of proposal to be delivered to the customer inclusive of BOM, pricing, and delivery date
  • Assessing the financial, technical, and operational risks of the projects
  • Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
  • Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders for review
  • Interface closely with sales and customer to clarify scope
  • Input and maintain information listed in the database/ERP and CRM system for all quotes
  • Fill in customer forms and bid sheets as required
  • Follows company best practices in quality, safety, and communication

Requirements
  • Prior experience as an Application Engineer or an Estimator preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in an Application Engineering or Estimator role in Medium Voltage Switchgear is required
  • 3+ years of experience with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers required
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings required
  • Basic understanding of industrial codes, such as ANSI, NEC, UL, IBC, etc.
  • Customer service centric required
  • High levels of organizational and time management skills required
  • High levels of analytical, observational, and active listening skills required
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal required
  • Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background check required
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 26lbs or more required
