Position Description
Recognized within Modine as a technical resource for governmental and company environmental and occupational health & safety requirements. Individual must demonstrate leadership in Environmental Management System (EMS) and corporate Safety Program management. They must also possess the ability to understand and manage EH&S matters with a clear comprehension of their role within the business operations. A strong track record of accomplishments related to OSHA and EPA compliance, chemical safety, sustainable environmental practices, and injury/illness prevention is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance to all applicable governmental regulations and internal EH&S policies.
• Follow emerging regulatory developments, assess their potential impact on the company, and institute programs to achieve compliance in an efficient manner.
• Share accountability and responsibility with management to provide guidance and leadership in identifying opportunities to continuously improve performance and attain EH&S objectives.
• Provide effective internal communication of EH&S issues.
• Actively promote and foster a Behavior-Based Safety culture dedicated to eliminating "at risk" behaviors and unsafe conditions.
• Provide technical environmental expertise in combination with knowledge of the company's manufacturing and business processes to minimize waste.
• Possess understanding and apply available technology and equipment to control and mitigate air and water pollution.
• Collect, analyze, and utilize EH&S metrics to eliminate environmental and safety risks and support attainment of company objectives.
• Provide EH&S support and expertise at multiple assigned facilities.
• Coordinate and conduct Safety Assessments and Environmental Audits, support and ensure implementation of corrective and preventative measures addressing findings.
• Continuously improve technical knowledge relevant to the position.
• Develop, plan, organize, and administer EH&S training.
• Possess self-motivation, leadership, strong team skills, maintain a positive attitude, and possess a high level of integrity.
Required Education & Qualifications
• College graduate in the Environmental and/or Health & Safety fields plus 1-3 years experience, or a Masters degree in these fields or business in lieu of on-the-job experience.
• Thorough knowledge in job relevant areas, works with limited guidance, takes initiative.
• Working knowledge of the processes involved within manufacturing operations, manages projects of intermediate complexity.
• Understanding of the business integration of the department function into the manufacturing operation.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Good understanding of chemical safety and engineering practices.
• Ability to evaluate and communicate EH&S issues to governmental agencies and plant management.
• Ability to motivate and promote EH&S understanding and culture at all levels within the organization.
