Job description

Job Summary:
The Egg Packer is responsible for accurately and efficiently packing eggs, ensuring product quality, and labeling boxes correctly. This role operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring attention to detail and adherence to food safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, alert, and capable of maintaining productivity and quality in their work area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The primary responsibility is to pack eggs into cartons according to the daily order sheet. Ensure eggs are placed in the cartons as per the required specifications.
  • Ensure that all eggs being packed are clean and free from damage. Inspect each egg for quality and remove any that are broken or flawed.
  • Maintain a clean work area and ensure nothing in the surrounding area contaminates the eggs during packing. Follow all hygiene and safety protocols to prevent contamination of the product.
  • Monitor the packing line to ensure it is operating efficiently. If any issues arise, immediately report to the supervisor or manager to address the problem.
  • Verify that the date stamps on the cartons are clear, readable, and match the order. Ensure the USDA seal is correct and corresponds with the date of the production run.
  • Ensure that the US or EB stamp on each egg is visible and correct.
  • Replace any broken eggs with intact ones. Place damaged eggs in Chex Flats or designated containers for proper disposal or reprocessing.
  • Maintain cleanliness in your work area. Clean up any eggs that fall on the floor immediately, and ensure the line is kept free from obstructions or hazards that could disrupt operations.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of your packing station. Ensure you can easily enter and exit the area without obstruction and keep the area tidy at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move cartons of eggs as needed.
  • Strong focus on cleanliness and product quality.
  • Good communication skills to report issues to supervisors or managers.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must follow safety protocols and be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for long periods during shifts.
  • Ability to lift cartons of eggs, and bend or stoop to clean up or adjust cartons as necessary.
  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds regularly.
