Job description

UW Credit Union has a new and exciting opportunity for a driven, leader-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Deposit Operations Manager.  In this pivotal role, you will serve as a key leader within our Deposit Services function, partnering closely with the Senior Deposit Services Manager while also supporting EFT Services initiatives. Your primary focus will be on advancing and optimizing our deposit operations, deposit account servicing, and operational excellence across the member experience.

This role is instrumental in shaping the future of our operations, providing day-to-day leadership, strengthening operational consistency, and contributing to forward-looking strategies that enhance our Deposit Services capabilities, with aligned support of EFT operations.

  • Provide technical expertise and knowledge support in daily operations, ensuring coverage as needed and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Oversee the processing of daily transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Enhance operations by identifying efficiency gaps and removing member pain points, offering recommendations and implementing new processes to improve efficiency.
  • Refine quality assurance to boost service standards. Regularly assess staff performance in member engagement.
  • Engage in year-end tax reporting, system updates, and unclaimed property (escheatment) reporting. Develop and maintain monthly reports for presentation to management, ensuring they reflect accurate and relevant data for informed decision-making.
  • Foster a service environment that consistently upholds the standards of the Service Philosophy.
  • Leverage data-driven metrics to support operational excellence, focusing on member experience, feedback, and behavior, and communicate trends to management.
  • Champion the vision of Membership Services, advocating for its adoption among team members and other internal stakeholders
  • Engage in cross-functional and organizational projects and initiatives, contributing valuable insights and expertise.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures, including account opening, maintenance, and closure, to maintain regulatory compliance and operational integrity. Maintain active collaboration with partners, including MSC, Retail, and Loss Prevention, to effectively communicate and update these procedures.
  • Remain vigilant about changing regulations and rulings to proactively implement solutions that ensure compliance and maintain robust internal controls.

Education & Experience 

  • Associates degree in business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to work onsite in Madison three days per week
  • 4+ years of experience in financial services, specifically within deposit operations or electronic funds transfer (EFT)
  • Leadership experience desired
  • AAP Certification, or ability to obtain

  • Proven understanding of the complexities involved in managing deposit accounts and operating

  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations affecting Deposit Services
    and EFT.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including clear document creation, effective
    staff meetings, and engaging presentations.
