Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Agricultural Education Program-CTAE is hiring for a Camp Manager at Camp John Hope in Fort Valley, Georgia. Camp John Hope is an educational facility designed to provide Georgia's youth with a site for leadership and career development. The Camp Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Camp John Hope FFA-FCCLA Center in accordance with the policies set by the Camp Administrative Committee. The Camp Manager is responsible for providing service to groups that utilize the facility and for developing new programs to attract FFA/FCCLA members and other groups to the center.
 

Position Description

Job Responsibilities

Design, develop, deliver and evaluate camp programs to meet the needs and interests of FFA and FCCLA members
Recruit, schedule, and coordinate educational groups using the facility
Plan and provide high quality meals in the center's dining services
Provide a safe and secure environment for campers
Plan and coordinate general maintenance and housekeeping
Recruit, hire, supervise, and manage full-time and seasonal employees
Conduct sound financial management on a daily basis
Serve as the center's financial officer
Maintain all camper and financial records
Promote the center at local, state, and national Agricultural Education and Family and Career Science Education activities.
Assist the Program Specialist for Camps in creating and implementing a long-range facility improvement plan and education             program plan
Serve as the caretaker of the facility. The Camp Manager will be required to live on site
Provide additional duties as assigned by the State Program Manager of Agricultural Education and/or Program Specialist for Family and Consumer Science

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:


Bachelor's degree or higher
Educational experience preferred in Ag. Education or Family and Consumer Science
CPR and First Aid certifications
At least two years of camp experience
Ability to supervise staff and campers
Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs
Ability to think strategically and align goals and resources
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with diverse people and ideas
Ability to work and lead in a team environment
Demonstrate collaboration, consensus-building, and networking skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and subject matter skills are necessary
Well-defined organizational skills

Certifications to be completed during employment:
Servsafe Food Safety Manager
Certified Pool Operator
Others as needed
