Position Summary
The Education & Outreach Manager administers, directs and manages education and programming to promote and facilitate a successful learning environment while meeting BEMP goals and objectives; develops, evaluates and implements policies, procedures and curricular development.
They will direct, supervise and evaluate Environmental Educator staff including mediation, communication, mentoring, advising, and setting expectations, including identifying areas for improvement and scheduling workshops for new and existing staff. They will provide training for all instructional staff regarding responsibilities and programmatic structure. The Education & Outreach Mgr serves as point of contact in managing outreach, transportation, scheduling, and staffing of all educational programming, including scheduling of monthly field collections, school field-program participation, busing contracts, and intern involvement. They will build and maintain relationships with K-12 teachers, board members, funders, local, state, national environmental education, and allied organizations. The Education & Outreach Mgr will conduct research, procedural and administrative evaluations to enhance academic structure; formulates and implements recommendations for improvements and/or modifications in curricula, programmatic structure, and overall academic vision. The Education & Outreach Mgr will lead coordination and preparation of symposia, training, and outreach events. They lead Next Generation Science Standard and New Mexico Common Core alignment.
They will research and write grants and manage all required contract details to fulfill compliance. This position will require time for quality control, including surveying experiences and inputting outreach data.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 5 years relevant work experience including at least 3 years of K-12 teaching (formal or informal settings) and 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Deep knowledge of education reform efforts.
- A strong foundation of ecological knowledge in either or both an Indigenous or Western science perspective (southwest riparian ecosystems preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and succinctly for a variety of audiences including an aptitude to communicate scientific concepts.
- The ability to use tact and diplomacy in interactions with all relevant parties.
- The ability and patience to draft several documents and policies.
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
