Job description

Job Title: Health Education Intern

Location: New Castle, PA

Wages: $20 per hour

Do you have a passion for community-based engagement and education? Are you pursuing a career in Nutrition, Agriculture, or Public Health? Come and join the Adagio Health team as a Health Education Intern. As an intern, you will support projects related to Nutrition & Education Programs, including implementing Adagio Health's EAT Farm Fresh project. The project is part of a larger initiative, which aims to increase the redemption of FMNP benefits at farmers markets. You will participate in pop-up markets at WIC/Senior Center sites and promote FMNP benefits among Senior and WIC participants through food demonstrations, tastings, and educational materials.

You will also work closely with the Tobacco Prevention and Control Programs. With the Tobacco Team, you will provide prevention education to students and healthcare professionals throughout the county. You will also distribute Tobacco Free Adagio Health material.


Where Will You Work

The Nutrition Intern will be based in the Lawrence County Adagio Health Office in New Castle, PA, and will travel to support the operations of pop-up markets at partnering Senior Centers, health tabling opportunities, and more.

Daily Duties:

  • Find local produce suppliers for pop-up farmers' markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local farmers and markets.
  • Schedule and organize pop-up market events and produce pick-up times.
  • Run the pop-up markets, manage inventory, prepare food tastings, and track payments.
  • Collect data required for SNAP-Ed grant compliance and internal evaluations.
  • Assist customers with FMNP benefits, eligible produce, and redemption locations.
  • Provide nutrition education to FMNP recipients at senior centers and WIC clinics.
  • Facilitate nicotine and tobacco prevention programming for youth K-12 at summer camps.
  • Assist with creating lesson plans for nicotine and tobacco prevention programs for youth.
  • Conduct outreach to local organizations to increase participation in Adagio Health programs. Attend community events and represent Adagio Health programs.
  • Assist with data collection and creation of informational resources.

What We Expect:

  • A background in agriculture, nutrition, dietetics, or public health
  • Displaying teamwork and collaboration while effectively working independently
  • Ability to execute tasks, adhere to established guidelines and processes
  • Skills in project management and tracking process flow
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Advanced-level skills with Microsoft Office
  • Maintain professional conduct and presentation

What You Will Receive:

  • $20.00/hour wage + travel reimbursement
  • A fantastic summer position that will last from June 2026 through August 2026.
  • Full โ€“time hours; 5 days/week (6-8 hr days)
