Amego is seeking an experienced and compassionate Education Director to provide leadership, direction, and support for our educational program serving students with significant special needs.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished special education professional who is ready to take the next step in leadership. As Education Director, you will help shape the day-to-day experience of our students and staff while ensuring high-quality educational programming, strong classroom practices, and a supportive school culture.

You won’t be leading from the sidelines. You’ll be actively involved with teachers, students, families, and an interdisciplinary team committed to helping each student make meaningful progress.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and performance support to teachers and educational staff.
  • Oversee classroom operations, staffing coverage, and appropriate student-to-staff ratios.
  • Support educational assessments, academic programming, curriculum development, lesson planning, and student progress reporting.
  • Guide the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Ensure educational and clinical programs are implemented with consistency and fidelity.
  • Collaborate closely with residential, clinical, therapy, and nursing teams to coordinate student care and educational programming.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, guardians, school districts, state agencies, and other community partners.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DESE, DEEC, DCF, and Amego policies and requirements.
  • Oversee required student assessments, including MCAS and Rhode Island alternative assessments.
  • Partner with Recruitment and Human Resources on hiring, onboarding, staff development, and employee support.
  • Help maintain a school environment where employees are valued, supported, and treated with dignity and respect.
  • Stay current on developments, regulations, and best practices within the field of special education.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a knowledgeable special education leader who can balance educational excellence, operational responsibilities, staff development, and collaboration.

The Leader Who Will Thrive Here

You may be a great fit if you are someone who:

  • Believes strong leadership means developing the people around you.
  • Can bring structure and consistency to a fast-moving educational environment.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
  • Understands the complexities of special education and individualized programming.
  • Builds strong relationships with employees, students, families, and external partners.
  • Is comfortable being both a strategic leader and an active, visible presence in the school.
  • Wants your work to have a direct and meaningful impact on students and the professionals who support them.
Ready to Lead With Purpose?

If you are an experienced special education professional looking for an opportunity to lead people, strengthen educational programming, and help students with significant needs succeed, we would love to hear from you.
