Description

Sher Edling seeks an experienced senior litigator to join our mission-driven team as eDiscovery Counsel. The eDiscovery Counsel will be involved in all aspects of discovery in complex environmental and consumer protection litigation matters. This role is ideal for an attorney who combines deep technical knowledge of eDiscovery with strong litigation abilities and who enjoys working collaboratively with case teams, clients, and vendors to design and implement winning discovery strategies. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement discovery strategies tailored to complex litigation.
  • Work closely with case teams to integrate discovery strategy with overall litigation strategy and trial preparation.
  • Advise clients on litigation holds, records retention, preservation obligations, document collections, etc.
  • Draft and negotiate ESI protocols, protective orders, and discovery protocols.
  • Collaborate on, advise on, and assist in discovery motion briefing; assist in conferral strategy, deposition preparation, and discovery-related hearings.
  • With assistance from the eDiscovery Manager, manage document review workflows, including technology-assisted review (TAR), analytics, and quality control processes.
  • Oversee and coordinate with eDiscovery vendors and platforms (Everlaw and similar tools), including budgeting and cost management.
  • Assist firm management in continuing to evaluate and implement the adoption of eDiscovery technology, including use of AI, for litigation needs.
  • Stay current on evolving eDiscovery law, technology, and best practices, and attend relevant conferences.

Qualifications

  • J.D. and active bar membership in good standing.
  • At least 6 years of litigation experience, with substantial responsibility for eDiscovery matters.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale databases in complex litigation.
  • Strong working knowledge of eDiscovery platforms, workflows, TAR, and AI tools. 
  • Strong complex litigation skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team of legal professionals and communicate across a range of stakeholders, including attorneys, support staff, clients, opposing counsel, and contract attorneys.


The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $210,000, depending on experience and geographic location. We also offer a variety of benefits, including comprehensive health benefits, generous paid annual vacation, parental leave, 401(k) benefits, and more.
