Job description

SUMMARY

Avel eCare, one of the nation’s most recognized leaders in telemedicine, is seeking a Gastroenterologist to join our Specialty Clinic team as a PRN / 1099 Independent Contractor. This is a chance to bring your expertise to underserved patients while enjoying the benefits of remote work, flexible scheduling, and professional autonomy. This position delivers specialty care via telemedicine to underserved populations in correctional facilities. Physicians in this role will provide outpatient consultations, with schedules provided approximately two weeks in advance to ensure predictability and flexibility. A minimum commitment of one 4-hour block per week during standard business hours is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide remote outpatient consults through secure telemedicine platforms.
  • Review patient information and develop appropriate care recommendations.
  • Collaborate with on-site clinical teams to coordinate next steps in care.
  • Document visits clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Follow Avel’s established telehealth workflows to ensure smooth and professional consults.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • MD or DO degree with an active, unrestricted medical license.
  • DEA certification.
  • Telemedicine experience preferred but not required.
