Graphic Designer - AI Image Specialist

WatchGuard Technologies, Inc.

Seattle, WA

$22.25 - $30.50/hr

Full-time

Job description

A Day in the Life:
You will start your day by opening your inbox in our project management systems and seeing new projects assigned to you.

You might click on a project created by the Social Media specialist to create social media cards for a new award we just received. You will then use the shared cloud drive to access our social media templates and start the layout using the template, AI, or a combination of both stock photography and AI to create the perfect idea. You will then jump in to create a layout in Figma or Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, post the PDF proof for review, receive feedback, and make edits as needed.

Next, you have a webpage assigned to you. You open the shared Figma space, use templates and styles to create the layout, gather feedback via the comments tool, and then hand off the design to the web developer. Note: Our Figma design system is still in development, and we are looking for your help to define styles and utilize the Figma-to-Claude connection so we can build webpages using AI and speed up the web dev process.

Now you get a video request, jump into Veed, and use the AI tools to create a 30-second social media video for our newest product. This rush request needs to get onto LinkedIn tomorrow, so time is of the essence!
You finish out the day with a rush ticket asking for edits to an existing brochure. You will need to pull that InDesign file from the shared drive, make the edits, and post to Wrike for review. While working on these projects, you might get a Microsoft Teams message from the web developer asking you to provide a link to the eBook PDF and make a few web-ready images of the eBook for the website.

About the Position

WatchGuard Technologies is seeking an innovative Graphic Designer passionate about blending traditional design fundamentals with generative AI technologies. You will conceptualize and produce high-quality visual assets, using AI image tools to scale creative pipelines, generate initial concepts, and execute unique branding. You will act as the bridge between creative vision and technological possibilities. The ideal candidate should efficiently combine creativity, functionality, and technology to produce eye-catching and informative content. In this role, organizational and technical skills are key, and all candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of design software programs. The ability to multitask across multiple platforms, be available to chat and jump on camera/share your screen, and discuss projects during business hours is a must. We are a global company, so the ability and willingness to work early mornings with European teams is required.

Key Responsibilities
•    Visual Metaphor Creation: Translate complex, highly abstract cybersecurity concepts (e.g., threat detection, cloud infrastructure, network architectures) into compelling, easily understood digital graphics.
•    AI Image Engineering: Use generative AI text-to-image workflows to create custom illustrations, tech backgrounds, and unique visual elements that support production timelines.
•    Figma-Driven Asset Production: Build, maintain, and export high-impact digital marketing assets, website layouts, and presentation decks directly within Figma, aligned with our product design frameworks.
•    Post-Processing & Refining: Clean, retouch, and composite AI-generated images using traditional design software to ensure they meet strict corporate branding guidelines.
•    Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with product teams, product marketing managers, and content strategists to maintain a unified brand voice across digital and web properties.
•    Asset Optimization: Manage and organize scalable asset libraries to ensure flawless design handoffs to development teams.
Required Qualifications
•    Experience: 3–5 years of professional graphic design experience, with a proven track record working in-house at a tech company.
•    Figma Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Figma is mandatory; you must be comfortable using components, auto-layouts, and managing collaborative design files.
•    Generative AI Proficiency: Direct, hands-on experience utilizing generative AI image engines (Claude, Gemini, Chat GPT, Nano banana, Adobe Firefly) inside a professional creative pipeline.
•    Core Software: Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and Illustrator) for deep asset editing and vector creation.
•    Portfolio: A strong, professional portfolio showing clean tech aesthetics, corporate-level typography, and specific examples of AI prompt integration alongside traditional designs.
•    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Design Technology, Visual Communications, or equivalent work experience.

Bonus Points
•    Prior experience designing graphics for B2B tech platforms, IT infrastructure, or information security brands.
•    Familiarity with building or utilizing structured brand style guides and design systems. Working directly with web developers requires a basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
Compensation
The base salary range is $70,000-$75,000 per year for full-time employment, exclusive of benefits. Your base salary will be determined by your individual skills, education, and experience. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical in order to allow for future salary growth.
