POSITION SUMMARY
The Commissioned Dye House Operator will be responsible for a wide scope of daily duties to include but not be limited to managing the flow of materials throughout the dyeing process, including loading tubs, extracting dyed materials, drying, and baling finished products, and operation of the equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and be committed to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS [basic job duties that employee must be able to perform with or without accommodation]
Loading Tubs: Safely load raw materials into dye tubs according to specified recipes and production schedules, ensuring accurate weights and measurements.
Extraction: Operate extraction equipment to remove excess dye and water from materials, adhering to safety and quality standards.
Drying: Transfer extracted materials to drying machines, monitor drying cycles, and adjust settings as needed to achieve optimal moisture content.
Baling: Prepare and operate baling equipment to package finished products for shipment or storage, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
Inventory Management: Track materials and finished products, assisting in maintaining accurate inventory levels.
Quality Control: Inspect materials at each stage of the process for consistency, quality, and adherence to specification
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on machinery, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of chemicals.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of tasks.

Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Work is performed in a dye house environment with exposure to heat, noise, chemicals, and moving machinery.
o Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy loads up to 50 lbs. unassisted and over 50 lbs. assisted.
o May require standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
o Must have ability to navigate stairs/stairwells
o Must have ability to work with wool material and products
o Must have ability to work in environments that can become extremely hot/humid
o Must be able to work in an area with odors from processing systems
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Communication
  1. Ability to collaborate well with others.
  2. Ability to verbalize details of operations as well as maintaining accurate written documentation as required
  3. Ability to share information with others verbally and understand verbal communications.

Skills
1. Excellent vision and ability to differentiate between colors
2. Dependable, completes tasks as instructed / trained
3. Organized and independent
4. Physically able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted / 100lbs with assistance
5. Basic math skills to be able to calibrate dye levels
Employment Experience
1. A minimum of one year of employment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is desired
2. Employment history exhibiting sustained acceptable performance. History showing increased responsibility and skill development is a plus.
Education
  1. High School diploma or equivalent

Licenses/Certification
1. Must have valid driver's license
2. Must be able to successfully pass BHC forklift certification
