Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Gender-Based Violence & Trauma Services provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for services addressing gender-based violence and trauma, including domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence. The Director oversees counseling, care coordination, case management, safety planning, and trauma-informed individual and group services programming. Working closely with the Vice President of Prevention and Intervention, the Director supports the development and implementation of program strategy, goals, and service delivery. The Director oversees comprehensive clinical assessments, treatment planning, safety planning, and short-term trauma-informed counseling and educational services while ensuring services are survivor-centered, culturally responsive, and grounded in safety, empowerment, confidentiality, and client choice. Gender-Based Violence & Trauma Services are provided at 26 Bay Street/CHASI and the Staten Island Family Justice Center (FJC). The Director ensures consistent clinical practices, quality service delivery, documentation, staff support, and coordination across both locations. The Director promotes a trauma-informed, gender-based violence-informed, and survivor-centered approach that prioritizes safety, autonomy, healing, and empowerment while addressing the complex and intersecting needs of survivors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with VP of Prevention and Intervention in the inclusive development and articulation of program strategy, vision and goals of DV and trauma services.
• Provide supervision and management to the staff in the Domestic Violence (DV) & Trauma Services programs including providing individual supervision, coaching, and collaborating with Human Resources on recruitment, orientation, evaluation and performance improvement, as needed.  
• Facilitate DV-focused prevention counseling and case management weekly team meetings with all direct reports.
• Participate in Incident Report Committee meetings and provide clinical and programmatic feedback to support quality improvement, risk management and effective services delivery. 
• Provide clinical support as needed by conducting initial comprehensive intake screening, psychosocial, safety planning, risk assessments and administering trauma-informed screening tools. Provide strengths-based, trauma-informed individual and group supportive counseling sessions, as needed.
• Oversee treatment planning and treatment plan execution.
• Monitor trends in program performance, including client engagement, chart documentation, and referral management. Develop action plans to ensure that performance goals are met when needed.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of Gender-Based Violence programming to ensure compliance with program standards, best practices, documentation requirements, and survivor-centered service delivery. Regularly review client documentation for quality and completeness.
• Develop, review, complete, and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Gender-Based Violence and Trauma Services to ensure consistency, quality, compliance, and effective service delivery.
• Track and Monitor DV data and complete internal and external reports detailing programmatic activity as requested for CHASI Sr. Management and/or funders. 
• Implement and monitor conferences to foster communication between program staff and partner agencies, including the Richmond County District Attorney’s office & the Family Justice Center.  
• Develop professional development plans for Direct reports to facilitate staff professional growth. Direct and monitor training plans for DV Counselor staff, including both internal training and outsourced instruction.
• Attend/facilitate department meetings, trainings, and contractor-facilitated provider meetings. 
• Perform all functions in alignment with CHASI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• LMSW, LMHC, or related degree/licensure required. LCSW preferred.
• At least 4 years of experience providing mental health and/or Trauma counseling services to survivors of Gender based Violence required.
• At least 2 years of experience supervising staff and/or managing programs.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency preferred.
• Effective oral & written communication skills.
• Strong organizational & problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
• Previous experience in trauma informed care & case management is strongly preferred.
• Experience collaborating within a multi-disciplinary, diverse team, maintaining a healthy work environment that encourages equity, professionalism, respect, diversity, and continuous professional growth and improvement.
• The candidate will have the ability to assume leadership roles. Teamwork, ability to work with others essential, and being a creative problem solver are essential.

Annual Salary: $66,300 - $71,300
