TRANSLATOR Job Posting - Prisma International

We are seeking expert-level, professional Translators to join our independent contractor team. You will be providing written translation (plus editing and proofreading) from English into your native (target) language. To be considered for hire, you must meet all minimum requirements listed below. Ideal candidates will have two+ years of experience providing written translations to HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES government offices. Other minimum requirements are stated below. Project assignments are assigned on an as-needed basis according to your availability.

LANGUAGES

TIER 1 - Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, Cebuano, Chamorro, Dutch, Estonian, Fulani, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hmong, Hungarian, Igbo, Ilocano, Ilonggo, Indonesian, Italian, Karen, Kikuyu, Kinyarwanda, Kurdish, Latvian, Lingala, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Malayalam, Marathi, Marshallese, Mongolian, Nepali, Oromo, Palauan, Rohingya, Rundi, Shona, Sinhalese, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Somali, Swahili, Tajik, Tamil, Telugu, Turkish, Turkmen, Twi, Uzbek, Wolof, Yoruba, Zulu.

TIER 2 - Chuukese, Czech, Ewe, Finnish, Georgian, Hakha Chin, Khmu, Kyrgyz, Luganda, Mandinka, Norwegian, Soninke, Tongan.

TIER 3 - Dinka, Kayah, Kosrean, Kunama, Iu Mien, Navajo, Nuer, Pohnpeian, Runyoro, Sangho, Tibetan.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - You must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Current certification from one of the following: 1) American Translators Association (ATA), 2) DSHS LTC
  • If you do not meet the above requirement, you must have: 1) An academic degree or formal translation certificate from an accredited institution, 2) Two years of professional translation experience, 3) Verification of passing a written language fluency exam, and 4) Agree to participate in a mandatory two-person quality assurance workflow.
  • 18+ years of age.
  • Adhere to Prisma's Master Service Agreement (MSA), related MSA Addenda.
  • Fluent in English and the target language.
  • Experience and ability to use modern CAT tools - we provide XTM to you.
  • Ability to work with PC and MAC formats including MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, PDFs with fillable fields, rich text, and XML/text blocks. You must have Adobe Acrobat on your device and know how to use Adobe's markup tools in a PDF file.
  • Reliable desktop PC or laptop with dedicated, secure, high-speed internet connection.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide purely human written translations using a Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tool. We provide XTM access to you. Machine/AI translation is strictly prohibited.
  • Adhere to all project work instructions, glossaries and reference materials provided to you.
  • Ensure the source content's concept, style and register are culturally and linguistically appropriate for the target language.
  • Perform language quality check steps (before delivery) to ensure the target translation is error-free and true to the meaning of the source document.
  • Deliver completed jobs by given deadlines and project budgets.
  • Review formatted target language PDF files for accuracy; mark any corrections needed. Using Adobe mark-up tools is required.
  • Communicate in a timely and professional manner with Prisma team members.
  • Willfully participate in quality management processes, e.g. Corrective Action Reports (CARs), Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), solution implementation.
  • Take all measures necessary to protect and keep private sensitive information shared with you to carry out translation projects (e.g. PHI, PII, SBU).
  • Adhere to policies and processes defined in Prisma's Master Service Agreement (MSA) and the Prisma Vendor Guide.

OTHER ATTRIBUTES

  • Excellent communication skills and quick responses to Prisma project team requests.
  • Ability to accommodate fast turnarounds for small word count projects.
  • After hours and weekend ability is a plus.
