Description Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Lead At Behavioral Health and Habilitation Administrations (BHHA) Office of Forensic Mental Health Services (OFMHS) is seeking a licensed professional with prescribing authority to provide direct services, enhanced oversight, and monitoring of the behavioral health status of in custody defendants, and coordinate treatment options with forensic navigators, diversion service coordinators, the department, and jail health services. In this role, you will have a specific work focus in providing services to the incarcerated population awaiting competency evaluation and restoration services and oversight of continuity of care for those awaiting competency services. You will be the primary provider for patient care and ensure treatment planning and decisions are in alignment with best/promising practices for the population being served.
Additionally, as a lead you will work on day to day collaboration and oversight of two psychology associates and an administrative assistant. Some of what you'll do: Monitor treatment programming, including psychiatric medications, to ensure effective and efficient management of symptoms.
Lead multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings. Work collaboratively with correctional staff and mental health staff working in the jail. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures established within BHHA/OFMHS that also comply with correctional facility policies and procedures.
Work closely with the DSHS/BHHA/OFMHS program managers and DSHS/BHHA/OFMHS psychology associates to ensure treatment plans and programming align while the individual is incarcerated. Audit work and provide feedback and direction. Engage in daily rounds with OFMHS and behavioral health staff working in the jail.
Coordinate the triage and referral process for class members to ensure that least restrictive alternatives are prioritized. Assess and refer individuals who appear to have attained competency. What we're looking for: Professionals with a valid Washington State license to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), which also requires a valid Washington State Registered Nursing licensure.
Current certification from an approved national certification program (American Nurse Association), AND Eight years of working experience as an ARNP with MSN or 6 years experience with DNP. Completion of an advanced formal education program, MSN or DNP, in the area of specialty, specifically as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Preferred: Experience in intervening and de-escalating crisis/dangerous situations.
Knowledge of all hospital, state, and jail regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of mental illness and recovery principles. Demonstrates the principals of universal precautions and infection control practices.
Ability to work with difficult or angry patients in a therapeutic, non-threatening manner. Ability to work as a team member and to resolve personal conflicts in a calm, non-threatening manner.
