Join the New Millennium Corporate team in Fort Wayne, IN, as a Detailer / Drafter and help bring steel building solutions to life from our office at Electric Works. We are seeking detail-oriented professionals who take pride in accuracy, problem-solving, and supporting high-quality construction projects. In this role, you will produce accurate fabrication bills of material and erection plans used to fabricate and erect New Millennium products, making a direct impact on the success of projects across the country.

What Are My Responsibilities as a Detailer / Drafter at New Millennium?

  • Prepare joist and deck layout plans and sections using AutoCAD
  • Prepare RFI’s and coordinate project details with customers, steel detailers, engineers and others
  • Calculate joist and girder loading based on design loading provided on contract documents
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced, production driven environment
  • Meet schedules for assigned projects
  • Other duties as necessary

What Are the Requirements for This Role?

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent with AutoCAD
  • Ability to visualize how elements fit together in 3D when working with 2D drawings
  • Willingness to go beyond typical duties to assist co-workers and customers
  • CAD related degrees and/or experience

Preferred

  • Prior structural and/or joist detailing experience

We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology with recycled ferrous scrap as the primary input. Our circular economy is powered by our three primary operating platforms: steel, metals recycling, and steel fabrication. Our steel operations produce steel products, including hot roll, cold roll, and coated sheet steel, structural steel beams and shapes, rail, engineered special-bar-quality steel, cold finished steel, merchant bar products, and specialty steel sections. Our metals recycling operations collect and process ferrous and nonferrous scrap from manufacturing and end-of-life items, such as automobiles, appliances, and machinery. This processed scrap is then sold to end-users for reuse, including our EAF steel mills, which produce new steel from the scrapped material. We sell a meaningful amount of steel to our own steel fabrication operations that in turn produce and sell structural steel joist and deck building systems to consumers.
