Job description

Job Description:

About the Team:

Based in New York, NY or Washington, DC, the Manager, Threat Intelligence supports the Global Risk, Safety & Resilience (GRSR) team by delivering intelligence-driven insights that enable the organization to identify, assess, and mitigate threats to Dow Jones personnel, journalists, facilities, and operations.

About the Role

This role contributes to the development of Dow Jones' protective and threat intelligence capability, serving as a central point for integrating intelligence inputs from multiple sources and translating them into actionable risk insights for the organization.

You will focus on identifying and evaluating threat actors, targeting behaviors, and emerging risk dynamics that may impact Dow Jones employees, journalists, executives, and public-facing activities. This includes monitoring threats such as harassment, intimidation, doxxing, insider risk indicators, extremist activity, civil unrest, and geopolitical developments that may affect personnel, operations, or events.

A key responsibility of this role is modernizing how intelligence is collected, synthesized, and delivered across the organization. You will work to aggregate intelligence from external providers, internal monitoring capabilities, open-source sources, and operational reporting, transforming those inputs into structured dashboards, automated alerts, and intelligence products that surface actionable insights for decision-makers.

This role is ideal for a technically curious intelligence professional who is comfortable working with automation, analytics, AI-enabled workflows, and data visualization tools to improve situational awareness and intelligence delivery.

You will also support investigative activities related to threats and security incidents impacting Dow Jones personnel, ensuring emerging threat indicators are identified, assessed, and escalated when necessary. You will report to the Director, Executive Safety & Event Security.

You Will:

  • Identify and assess threat actors, targeting behaviors, and emerging threat dynamics that may impact Dow Jones personnel, journalists, executives, or facilities.
  • Identify intelligence gaps and develop collection approaches to improve visibility into emerging threats affecting Dow Jones personnel and operations.
  • Develop threat assessments evaluating risks related to harassment, insider threats, geopolitical instability, civil unrest, reputational exposure, or other security concerns affecting the organization.
  • Translate complex intelligence signals into clear and actionable protective intelligence insights for leadership and operational stakeholders.
  • Identify early warning indicators and behavioral escalation signals that may indicate increased threat activity.
  • Aggregate intelligence feeds, internal reporting, and monitoring outputs from multiple sources to build a consolidated understanding of the threat environment.
  • Design and maintain intelligence dashboards, alerts, and situational awareness tools that consolidate intelligence inputs and surface key signals and emerging risks for leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, analytics tools, or AI-enabled workflows to improve intelligence collection, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Produce written intelligence products including threat briefs, situational awareness reports, executive briefings, and operational risk summaries.
  • Provide intelligence insights that support operational planning, travel safety, newsroom assignments, executive protection, and event security.
  • Assess online threats, harassment campaigns, doxxing activity, insider risk indicators, or other forms of targeted behavior directed toward Dow Jones personnel.
  • Support investigative activities related to threats or security incidents affecting employees, journalists, executives, or facilities.
  • Brief stakeholders across security, editorial, and leadership teams on emerging threats and risk implications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant law enforcement and external partners to support the escalation and resolution of threats impacting Dow Jones personnel or operations.
  • Serve as a trusted intelligence resource to internal partners across the organization.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience in threat intelligence, protective intelligence, geopolitical risk analysis, or related disciplines.
  • Experience developing or improving intelligence monitoring workflows that automate the aggregation of intelligence feeds and operational reporting into centralized dashboards, alerts, or situational awareness tools.
  • Ability to translate intelligence signals into structured dashboards, reporting frameworks, or automated alerts that surface key risk indicators and emerging threats.
  • Experience conducting protective intelligence analysis or threat assessments involving targeted threats against individuals or organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to aggregate intelligence from multiple sources-including external intelligence providers, internal monitoring capabilities, and open-source reporting-and translate those inputs into actionable threat assessments and operational risk insights.
  • Strong understanding of open-source intelligence (OSINT), digital monitoring methodologies, and threat actor analysis.
  • Experience producing written intelligence assessments, situational awareness reports, and executive briefings.
  • Strong analytical judgment and communication skills with the ability to evaluate credibility, intent, escalation risk, and operational impact.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners across security, legal, HR, editorial, cyber, and operational teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments where emerging threats require rapid synthesis of intelligence and timely decision support.

Preferred Qualities

  • Experience collaborating with cybersecurity teams or digital risk functions to assess cyber-enabled threats impacting personnel, operations, or brand reputation.
  • Familiarity with insider threat indicators, behavioral risk signals, or insider threat management programs.
  • Familiarity with structured analytic techniques or intelligence methodologies used to evaluate threat actors and emerging risks.
  • Experience working within corporate protective intelligence, threat intelligence, cybersecurity intelligence, or security intelligence programs.
  • Familiarity with the convergence of cyber, physical, geopolitical, and reputational risks affecting global organizations.
  • Experience analyzing online threat ecosystems, including harassment campaigns, doxxing activity, coordinated targeting, or other digitally enabled threats.
