Job Summary:

The Donation Services Driver Assistant will travel with and assist the Donation Services Drivers in providing a consistent acquisition of donations through our pickup program. To represent Goodwill by assisting donors in an efficient, friendly manner when picking up donated goods from homes, businesses and donation drives. To safeguard donations by sorting and packing them in proper receptacles and onto the trucks. To offer donors excellent customer service and donation receipts for their items. To maintain records of the number of donations received and locations of internal drop-offs.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Exhibit a high level of customer service awareness, including being courteous and appreciative to all donors, calling when in route, providing donation receipts, and greeting donors.
  • Carry, sort and pack donations as designated by Donation Services leadership.
  • To handle all donations with care assuring the highest potential of utility.
  • Decline donations graciously when appropriate.
  • To communicate Goodwill's mission to donors
  • Assist withthe completion of daily donation tracking and other reports as required in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist driver and store in unloading of donated goods and/or materials.
  • Assists the driver in safely operating the trucks such as truck backups, reading directions and closing out dispatches on tablets. Guides driver into position and immediately communicates potential hazards to the driver.
  • Uphold the safety of the work areas and trucks by following company policies and procedures.
  • Follow all rules and regulations of the road including local, state, and federal laws.
  • Provide prompt accurate feedback to supervisor on any obstacles, concerns or violations of company policies.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.
  • Regular, reliable attendance, as defined in Goodwill's attendance policy.
  • Being flexible with the ability to work Community and Fundraising Donation Drives on Saturdays.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills

Education

  • High School diploma or GED is required. (at least 2 years of positive experience as a Mover or certification in a like field may be substituted.)

Experience

  • Six (6) months experience in material handling is required

Certifications and Licenses

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to complete tasks regularly using manual dexterity when loading and unloading items from the truck.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and work as a team member. Knowledge of road safety.
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly.
  • Ability to lift or carry loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously.
  • Ability to push or pull loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.
  • Ability to provide a consistently mature, neat, clean image for the department.
  • Ability to travel to other locations as needed. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Must know and use proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.
  • Must have sufficient stamina for steady work pace through an entire shift.
  • Ability to work outdoors in wet, hot cold and /or humid weather conditions.

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License

  • Previous experience working with the public and the ability to work with people in a professional manner is preferred.
