Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as the Project Manager for the District's hydrographic survey program, overseeing surveys that support navigation channels, harbors, dredging, and other civil works projects.

  • Supervises the survey crews, dredge inspectors and coordinates all hydrographic survey work/projects.
  • Serves as the technical advisor on hydrographic survey procedures and standards.
  • Attends pre-bid and pre-solicitation meetings to discuss and clarify hydrographic survey requirements concerning scheduling, work layout, accident prevention and/or work progress.
  • Prepares correspondence and is responsible for all reports regarding survey activities.
  • Develops new techniques to analyze hydrographic surveys.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Manage hydrographic survey projects supporting navigation channels, harbors, dredging, flood control, and/or civil works program, 2) Perform quality assurance to ensure projects are in compliance with federal and agency regulations, 3) Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and/or recommendations for leadership and stakeholders to include, contractors, federal, state and local agencies and 4) Supervise and manage multidisciplinary personnel by assigning work and establishing priorities.
