Position Summary:
HII - Mission Technologies is looking to hire an Aerospace/Aviation Support Engineer to provide technical support for the Army Futures Command and the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Division (AMED) in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Army's AMED provides its engineers and analysts the opportunity to gain experience in various programs, including Research & Development, Fielding & Implementation, and Sustainment Engineering programs supporting the DoD Aerospace Industry. In addition, HII engineers and analysts set the standard of professional and ethical conduct and participate in diverse professional development opportunities.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Support government engineers with expert advice, analysis, research, and technical guidance related to aviation maintenance engineering solutions for US Army rotary aircraft or uncrewed aerial vehicles.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant scientific principles, application methods/procedures, and integrate the same into aerospace engineering projects using systems, electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant maintenance policies, procedures, technical manuals, and electronic resources related to aviation depot maintenance repair and overhaul operations.
  • All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science, or greater, in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
  • Preferred: 14 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 12 years of experience with a Masters; 10 years of experience with a Ph.D. or Juris Doctorate
    • Acceptable relevant experience is not limited to the aerospace industry. Candidates interested in gaining aerospace industry experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with overhaul of dynamic components including drive, rotor, or propulsion systems
  • Demonstrated experience using problem-solving and critical thinking skills to transform concepts into functional repairs.
  • Experienced in applying analytical skills to support and evaluate engineering dispositions, policies, plans, procedures, and technical requirements.
  • Provide technical support for drafting new or revised maintenance manual procedures and processes.
  • Proficient in writing detailed technical substantiation analyses, reports, and briefings.
  • Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, repair manuals, and technical reports.
  • Possess strong listening, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Competence in MS Office and related software/programs.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Requirements
  • Greater than 20+ years of relevant experience with DoD aviation maintenance airworthiness.
  • Advanced Manufacturing and Additive Manufacturing experience.
  • Stress Analysis and Finite Element Analysis experience.
  • Experience with overhaul of rotary wing aircraft or Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles
  • Military Aviation Depot, Intermediate, or Organizational Level maintenance repair experience.
  • Security Clearance: Possess an active Department of Defense Security Clearance.

Physical Requirements
  • Office, industrial or shipboard environment.
  • Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
