Description

Our client is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Document Controller to join their team on a 12-month contract in Fort McMurray, AB.

In this role, you’ll play an important part in ensuring engineering, maintenance, operations, and safety teams have quick access to accurate, current, and properly controlled documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Document Controller who thrives in a structured environment, has a strong eye for detail, and understands the importance of document accuracy in an industrial setting.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Enter and maintain document information within electronic document management systems and databases.

  • Process project transmittals and distribute approved documentation to the appropriate maintenance and operations teams.

  • Ensure plant teams have access only to the latest approved versions of procedures, manuals, drawings, and regulatory documentation.

  • Review documents for accurate formatting, identification numbers, revisions, and required approvals or sign-offs.

  • Archive superseded equipment manuals and documentation to prevent outdated information from being used.

  • Perform quality checks on incoming and outgoing documentation.

  • Maintain accurate records of technical safety manuals, operational logs, engineering documentation, and other controlled records.

  • Work closely with engineers, contractors, maintenance teams, and plant personnel to locate and provide required documentation.

  • Help ensure document control processes are followed consistently across the team.

What You Must Have

  • 3+ years of experience in Document Control or a similar records/document management role.

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time-management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when managing large volumes of technical records.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

  • Experience using document management or data systems such as SharePoint.

  • Ability to quickly locate, track, and manage technical and engineering documentation.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, contractors, maintenance teams, and operations personnel.

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with multiple teams.

Why Join the Team

  • Join an established team in a 12-month contract opportunity.

  • Gain valuable experience within an industrial and engineering environment.

  • Work alongside engineering, maintenance, operations, and plant teams.

  • Play a key role in ensuring critical technical and safety documentation is accurate, accessible, and up to date.

  • Build on your Document Control experience while working with a wide range of engineering and operational records.

Who Will Excel in This Role

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining accurate and reliable records. You’re comfortable working with large volumes of information and understand the importance of document revisions, approvals, and traceability.
