Job Description

Rochelle McCullough PLLC, is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable and organized Legal Assistant or Paralegal for its Indianapolis office. The position will support attorneys in both Indiana and Texas in their commercial litigation, restructuring, and creditor and debtor rights practices and a chapter 7 panel trustee for the Southern District of Indiana as needed. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in bankruptcy law or a related legal field. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage electronic case filings using the U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s ECF system and Filetime.
  • Prepare, draft, and file bankruptcy-related documents with state and federal courts.
  • Maintain organized case files and monitor dockets and deadlines.
  • Proofread all materials for grammar, accuracy, and format compliance.
  • Schedule trustee and attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, hearings, and travel.
  • Communicate professionally with debtors, attorneys, courts, UST office and clients regarding case status and procedures.
  • Calendar, monitor, and meet deadlines for filings, hearings, and other case-related matters.
  • Research bankruptcy statutes, case law, and trustee best practices as needed.
  • Assist in preparing and electronic filing of legal briefs, pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Prepare trial exhibits, witness lists, and other trial-related materials; coordinate with witnesses and experts for trial appearances.
  • Perform general administrative duties, such as drafting correspondence, answering phones, and managing office tasks.

  • Qualifications

    Experience/Education: At least two years of experience in bankruptcy law, creditor or debtor's rights, or a related legal field is preferred, but we are open to considering less experienced, excellent candidates with a drive to learn and grow into the role. Familiarity with Chapter 7 bankruptcy preferred. A paralegal certificate is not required but is a plus.


    Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in document review processes and case management software (will be trained).
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and case management software (e.g., PACER, Filetime, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and case management software).
    • Experience with State Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court PACER and electronic filing processes.
