Job description

Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Document Control Specialist in Bellingham or Sedro-Woolley, WA!
Sedron is a leading provider of circular waste management technologies for agricultural manure and municipal biosolids processing, deploying facilities across several North American regions. Since its founding in 2014, Sedron has pioneered innovative solutions, including the patented Varcor® system, to transform waste into clean water, organic fertilizer, and carbon-negative commodities. With strong engineering expertise, Sedron's processes reduce nutrient pollution, lower operational expenses, and promote sustainability at a fraction of traditional costs.
The Document Control Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of Sedron's corporate document control platform, including workflows and tools supporting Engineering Change Management (ECM), Management of Change (MOC), and related engineering processes. The initial phase of this role centers on building out a new PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) platform in collaboration with all company departments, with a focus on a single source of truth, scalability, searchability, and long-term maintainability.
This role owns the standards, processes, and policies governing how documents and records are created, stored, and maintained across the entire organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicative, and motivated by building systems that bring structure and efficiency to a fast-paced engineering environment.
Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:
  • Lead the buildout of a centralized document control and PLM platform (Siemens Teamcenter) that meets business requirements across all Sedron departments, with an emphasis on usability, scalability, and a single source of truth
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce document control standards, templates, workflows, and policies in alignment with industry best practices, including ISO 9001
  • Perform regular audits of the document control platform, workflows, and policies to ensure continued efficiency, adaptability, and alignment with evolving business needs
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to the document control platform, coordinating with third-party vendors for resolution as needed
  • Ensure all documents are properly formatted, categorized, stored, and maintained to support accuracy, integrity, security, and access; including archival of obsolete documents and adherence to the document retention policy
  • Process internal document creation requests across departments, and prepare, package, and transmit document packages to external parties
  • Support third parties in creating and submitting documents in alignment with Sedron's internal templates, policies, and procedures
  • Develop and manage the change order process through ECM and MOC across engineering, operations, and all technical departments
  • Facilitate Change Review Board meetings, monitor change order progress, communicate issues to the Engineering Change Review Board (ECRB), and coordinate timely implementation with technical leads
  • Support technical departments with Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and maintenance
  • Generate project document reports and engineering metrics to support visibility and decision-making
  • Proactively identify opportunities to standardize and streamline documentation-related processes, tools, and workflows across the engineering department
  • Identify applicable standards or best practices that could support quality management initiatives
  • Prioritize and manage competing responsibilities to consistently meet objectives and deadlines
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across all disciplines; demonstrate cooperative behavior with peers and supervisors
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to support continuous improvement and organizational efficiency
  • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of future document management tools or platform upgrades
This position allows for growth and career progression to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.
BENEFITS
  • Multiple medical, dental, and vision insurance options to keep you feeling your best
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays (plus 2 floating holidays to use your way)
  • Disability, Life, and AD&D Insurance
  • FSA and HSA options with employer contributions
  • Tuition reimbursement - we invest in your growth
  • Casual work attire - no suits required (unless that's your thing)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of related professional experience as a document or quality control specialist, or in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience with document control platform selection and buildout required
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred. ISO 9001 familiarity strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft business products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Project, and SharePoint
  • Deep knowledge of document control methodologies, ECM/MOC workflows, and quality management frameworks such as ISO 9001
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction; capable of taking a vision and executing it from the ground up
  • Strong critical thinking and adaptability; able to evaluate complex systems and develop pragmatic solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent planning, multi-tasking, and time management capabilities with a track record of meeting competing deadlines
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical and procedural information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence across all levels and disciplines
  • High degree of personal and professional integrity; self-motivated with strong initiative and problem-solving instincts
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have effective verbal, reading, and written communication skills in the English language
