Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a DOCSIS Test & Automation Engineer IV in Englewood, CO.
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced DOCSIS Test & Automation Engineer IV to support the validation, certification, and testing of next-generation broadband technologies, including DOCSIS 4.0 initiatives. This is a senior-level role requiring extensive experience in DOCSIS environments, network architecture, protocol testing, and broadband device certification.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in cable broadband technologies, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to independently execute complex testing efforts with minimal ramp-up.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform certification and validation testing for DOCSIS-based broadband devices, firmware releases, maintenance releases, and new feature deployments
  • Support DOCSIS 4.0 testing initiatives and broadband network certification efforts
  • Execute automated, hybrid, and manual testing methodologies across multiple environments
  • Validate modem functionality, firmware performance, network behavior, and customer-premise equipment (CPE)
  • Analyze system logs, test results, and network data to identify root causes of defects and performance issues
  • Conduct exploratory testing and edge-case scenario validation to identify defects before customer deployment
  • Perform command-line diagnostics and troubleshooting utilizing Linux/Unix environments
  • Validate IPv4, IPv6, routing protocols, network topology, and transport technologies
  • Execute DPOE network testing, TR-069 testing, and CPE device performance validation
  • Evaluate modem and network behavior during power recovery, service interruptions, and customer-impacting events
  • Test and tune network security devices and systems, including connectivity and access controls
  • Support testing of routers, switches, Ethernet technologies, optical transport systems, and related communications technologies

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering, broadband technologies, telecommunications, or related environments
  • Advanced experience with DOCSIS technologies and cable broadband ecosystems

Hands-on experience with:

  • Singlemode Fiber, Multimode Fiber, UTP Cabling
  • Experience analyzing network logs and performance data to identify defects and performance bottlenecks
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with demonstrated attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working with testing equipment and established test methodologies
  • Proficiency with Linux and/or Unix command-line environments
  • Working knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, and related networking protocols
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and quickly learn new technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience supporting similar MSO environments
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl
  • Experience with automation platforms such as: Platypus, Koala
  • Experience with security testing, regression testing, and exploratory testing
  • Experience with broadband certification, cable modem testing, or telecommunications quality assurance organizations
  • Experience supporting DOCSIS 4.0 initiatives

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
