The Bridgeport Port Jefferson Ferry is seeking highly qualified individuals to join our team as Dock Workers in Port Jefferson, NY. Duties and responsibilities are outlined below:
Dock Worker
Reports to:
The Dock Worker in Port Jefferson is directly responsible and accountable to the Dock Supervisor.
The Dock Worker in Bridgeport is directly responsible and accountable to the Dock Supervisor.
Supervises:
None
Description of Duties:
The Dock Worker helps to ensure smooth and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles, maintains the cleanliness of the loading dock and performs other duties assigned.
Meet and greet incoming customers. Give directions and advice to ferry passengers.
Position cars to ensure efficient and safe board of the ferry.
Perform routine maintenance tasks on the dock.
Perform security sweeps of the ferry terminal, loading dock and parking lots.
Inspect vehicles as deemed necessary
Maintain knowledge of security procedures and perform same as required
Handle ship lines, freight and ramp operations
Run errands as requested
Perform additional duties as assigned
Dockworkers in Bridgeport, CT are also responsible for:
Driving the shuttle bus to escort passengers from off-site parking lot to the ferry loading dock
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
HS degree or equivalent
Valid TWIC card or proof of application for TWIC card.
Must be willing to apply, obtain and maintain United States Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, day and evening shifts.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to handle and throw lines
Must have the ability to stand and perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions.
Hourly Salary:
